If you happened to miss anything from yesterday’s transfer news headlines, we’re here to catch you up on what passed you by (or you intentionally overlooked).

We’ll have a nice hot batch of today’s transfer tidbits a little later in the evening, but in this batch, we’ve got the latest on Birmingham’s quest to find a striker willing to play for them, Tottenham’s pursuit of more midfielders, and a few names for the future that you should keep in the memory bank, along with a few other bits.

England

Chamakh Bound For Liverpool?

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool could be set to beat out Arsenal for the signature of Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh, who will leave the French champions on a free this summer.

Analysis: Oh, if only he was arriving sooner rather than later, though at this point, it looks like it’d take a lot more than just one man to right the ship for Liverpool.

Spurs Close On Sandro, Flamini Next?

Tottenham have agreed terms with Internacional midfielder Sandro, but the Brazilian club are looking to delay the 6.5m deal in order to have the 20-year-old in their squad for their Copa Libertadores campaign. (Daily Mail)

Analysis: Well, you certainly can’t blame them for wanting to have him a little longer, but fortune may be on their side as is, given the possibility that he won’t be able to earn a work permit right away.

In other news, according to reports in Italy, Tottenham could be lining up a move to bring former Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini back to the Premier League. (Daily Mail)

Analysis: He hasn’t been starting regularly for AC Milan this season, but it might be a little too early for him to jump ship for another move, and even if he isn‘t a regular in the starting XI, he is an important piece for depth purposes, at the very least. But hey, anything can happen, so never say never.

McLeish Eyes Pav Swoop

After being turned down by Liverpool‘s Ryan Babel and likely being priced out of a move for Sunderland‘s Kenwyne Jones, Birmingham have turned their attention to Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko. (The Mirror)

Analysis: Availability certainly isn’t an issue here, but desire might get in the way of this one as well. A return to Russia looks likely for Pavlyuchenko, and it might be his preferred choice over a stay in England after the way things have gone downhill for him at Tottenham.

Wigan Sign Caldwell

Wigan have beaten out Middlesbrough for Celtic defender Gary Caldwell, with the 27-year-old penning a four and a half year deal with the Latics. (ESPN Soccernet)

Analysis: Unfortunate for Middlesbrough, but at 27, the chance to make the move to the Premier League is just one that can’t be turned down.

Spain

Zaragoza Move For Lewandowski

Real Zaragoza have made an offer of four million euros to Lech Poznan for prolific Polish striker Robert Lewandowski. (Transfer Market Web)

Analysis: If Zaragoza could land him, I’ll have to say I’d be paying a closer watch to their matches than I ever have. Humberto Suazo + Lewandowski = goals, goals, goals.

Italy

Fiorentina Land Ljajic

Former Manchester United target Adem Ljajic is set for a move to Italy, as Fiorentina and Partizan Belgrade have agreed terms over a deal for the 18-year-old midfielder. (The Mirror)

Analysis: Things may not have worked out with Manchester United, but perhaps after a few years of developing at Fiorentina, he could well get that move to Old Trafford. Whatever happens down the line, Fiorentina are landing a young talent who has the goods to be a real difference-maker in their push to be a serious Serie A title challenger in the near future.

France

Lyon Land Lovren

Lyon have signed highly-rated young Croatian defender Dejan Lovren from Dinamo Zagreb for nine million euros. (Goal.com)

Analysis: Struggles at the back are behind Lyon already being well back in the Ligue 1 title race at the halfway point of the season, but things should start to get a little tidier back there with the addition of Lovren, who will be able to step in and contribute immediately.

Turkey

Galatasaray In For Neill

Galatasaray have made an offer of £800k for Everton defender Lucas Neill. (Goal.com)

Analysis: Galatasaray have been after Neill for quite some time, and they were in the hunt to land him when he was a free agent last summer. But I don’t see this one happening right now, since Neill figures into Everton’s plans for at least the time being.
