Transfer Rumors: Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Barcelona, AC Milan

There is some news from the weekend to get caught up on, but first, there’s an actual signing to report.

Well, it’s not official yet, since the player hasn’t agreed personal terms yet, but once that’s all done, Porto defender Jose Bosingwa will move to Chelsea for 16.1 million pounds.

For a long while, the 25-year old was heavily linked with Manchester United, who reportedly put in an offer for him last week, but now, it looks like he’ll be the third Porto defender to make a big-money move to London, following Paulo Ferreira (13.2 million pounds) and Ricardo Carvalho (19.85 million).

Rumor Rating: 5 – Ching ching! The Porto pipeline continues…20 mil for Carvalho, 15 mil (euros) for Deco, 13 mil for Ferreira, 18 mil for Anderson, now 16 mil for Bosingwa. They keep producing, the big boys keep on buying. Who’s next?

In another Chelsea-related rumor from the weekend, The Mirror reported that Didier Drogba has agreed a three-year deal with AC Milan, where he’ll be reunited with Jose Mourinho.

Rumor Rating: 4 – It doesn’t seem likely that Drogba will be at Chelsea next season, and AC Milan is the club he’s been most linked with. As for the Special One, we’ll see, won’t we?

Could Manchester United be making a move for Michael Owen? Several weekend reports say that United have spoken to Owen’s representatives, and that he could cost only 7 million pounds to pull away from Newcastle.

Rumor Rating: 3 – Owen would certainly be much cheaper than some other options, but would he be the right purchase?

United have also been linked with West Ham’s Dean Ashton, who had a strong finish to the season and earned a place in the England squad for their upcoming friendlies.

Rumor Rating: 2 – Alan Curbishley doesn’t want to let one of his key players go, though if he did, it still likely wouldn’t cost United nearly as much as some of their other forward targets might.

Tottenham are working hard to make a move for Samuel Eto’o possible, as they’re looking for sponsors to help with the funds necessary to bring the Barcelona star to London. The big stumbling block at this point would appear to be wages, as Eto’o would be getting paid six figures a week.

Rumor Rating: 4 – If Spurs can get the money, this one is certainly possible. Eto’o hasn’t always received the nicest of treatment in his time in Spain, and it coul be time for a change.

Reports are linking another Barcelona man with a move to London, as Yaya Toure oculd have the opportunity to play with brother Kolo at Arsenal, with the Gunners said to be lining up a 10 million pound move for the Ivorian midfielder.

Rumor Rating: 3 – One season at Olympiakos, one season at Monaco, one season at Barcelona? I hope he rents or leases, and doesn’t buy.

Arsenal could also be set to keep Gilberto Silva at the Emirates, after it looked like a near certainty that he’d be departing in the summer. The 31-year old midfielder was in and out of the starting lineup this season, but with Mathieu Flamini off to AC Milan, the door has once again opened for the Brazilian to have a reason to stay with the club.

Rumor Rating: 4 – Oh, so NOW they want to keep him? I’m kidding – they’re still likely going to add a younger player in the same position, but Gilberto’s experience will certainly prove valuable, whether he’s a regular starter or not.

Reports in Spain say that Christian Chivu is on new Barcelona boss Josep Guardiola’s wish list.

Rumor Rating: 1 – Pep’s wish is not Inter’s command.

As usual, chime in and chip in, and I’ll be back tomorrow with all the latest headlines in the world of transfer news and rumors.
