Transfer Rumors (08 May 09): Manchester City not interested in Real’s Raul, Bayern’s Ribery prefers Real over Manchester United, Carew wants Norway teammate Hangeland at Villa, and more

In today’s transfer news and rumors roundup, we’ve got rumors from England, Spain, Italy, and France to grab your attention. Some big names could be on the move, and a few could be staying put — even though the press wants us to think otherwise!

England

Raul Not on Manchester City’s Radar

Manchester City are likely going to be gunning for a big-name striker in the summer, but according to Mark Hughes, it won’t be Real Madrid legend Raul, who has been linked with the club.

Analysis: I can’t say I could see him joining Manchester City anyway though, even if the interest was there.

Milito’s Agent in England for Talks

The likelihood of Genoa striker Diego Milito moving to England in the summer is all the more promising, as his agent has reported that he’s holding talks with multiple Premier League clubs.

Analysis: So, who’s it going to be? Manchester City? Tottenham? Manchester United?

Barton to Bolton?

Joey Barton’s days at Newcastle appear to be coming to an end, but even after his latest negative headline, he’ll still have some options come summer. One of them could be Bolton, who made a bid for Barton in January that was rejected.

Analysis: Wherever he lands next, he needs to make the most of it, because at some point, his chances are going to run out if he doesn’t learn how to keep himself out of hot water.

Leeds Star Delph Set to Leave?

Leeds wonderkid Fabian Delph has reportedly told his teammates that he will leave Leeds in the summer, even if the club do get promoted to the Championship. The 19-year-old midfielder could command a fee of £10m, with Aston Villa, Everton, and Wigan all racing for his signature.

Analysis: He’s certainly a promising young talent and has a long, bright future ahead of him, but £10m for a youngster in League One? Is he worth it, or is it crazy money?

Premier League Clubs After Assmann

Chelsea, Aston Villa, Everton, and Birmingham City are all reportedly interested in Argentine goalkeeper Fabian Assmann, who plays for Argentine side Independiente.

Analysis: It’s probably best that I don’t say anything here.

Carew Wants Hangeland at Villa

John Carew is trying to give Martin O’Neill a friendly hint about who Aston Villa should go for in the summer, namely Norway teammate and Fulham defender Brede Hangeland.

Analysis: Several clubs are likely going to make offers for Hangeland this summer, but they’ll be futile, especially if Fulham can finish 7th and earn a place in next season’s Europa League.

Spain

Ribery Prefers Real to Barcelona or Manchester United

Both Barcelona and Manchester United have a heavy interest in Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery, but the French playmaker would rather move to Real Madrid, where Zinedine Zidane could be a part of the staff if Florentino Perez wins the presidential election.

Analysis: Bayern say that he’s not for sale, so all of the above may not matter.

Gudjohnsen Likely to Leave Barcelona

Eidur Gudjohnsen is none too happy about a lack of opportunities at Barcelona, and he’s conceded that it may be time to move elsewhere, with Tottenham, Everton, and Newcastle all reportedly waiting in the wings to make a move.

Analysis: He’d ignored interest from other clubs previously, but it appears he’s finally realized that, while team successes are great and all, he’d much rather be playing more.

Italy

AC Milan to Make Move for Barcelona’s Puyol

AC Milan could be in the market for a new central defender in the summer, and they’ve got Barcelona’s Carles Puyol in their sights.

Analysis: He may fancy AC Milan, but would Barcelona even entertain the idea of selling him? Well, everyone has their price, but I think you get what I’m saying.

France

PSG Interested In Genoa Keeper

As is the case with Milito, Genoa’s success this season has shone a light on some of their key players, and another one drawing interest in goalkeeper Rubinho, who could be targeted by PSG in the summer. (Tribal Football)

Analysis: Rubinho has only a year left on his contract at Genoa, so they could reluctantly choose to cash in on him at the right price.
