Transfer Rumors: Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham, Barcelona, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Napoli, Portsmouth, Sevilla
So, what’s going on in the world of transfer rumors today? As always, chime in and chip in with opinions – and with rumors!
Barcelona went into Arsenal to nab Thierry Henry last summer, and now they’re being linked with another one, as the Blaugrana may have Emmanuel Adebayor on their summer wish-list.
Rumor Rating: 1 – Not happening. Adebayor’s 24, and wrapping up a 30-goal season. Arsene isn’t about to let him go.
Barcelona reportedly want to raid a London team for a striker, and a London team reportedly wants to raid Barcelona for a striker, as ambitious Tottenham are said to be interested in Samuel Eto’o, but they’ll have to shell out at least 35 million euros for the prolific Cameroonian marksman. The Daily Mail says that Spurs have already met with Barca officials about a potential move, and that Barca are open to listening to offers.
So, where are they going to get all that money from? Well, the report goes on to mention that Dimitar Berbatov could be used in a swap deal, which would give Barca the top-class striker they’re on the prowl for. However, AC Milan are also in the market for a top striker, and are being linked with him as well.
Rumor Rating: 2 – It’ll be interesting to see how and if this develops into anything. I doubt Berbatov will still be at Tottenham come next season, but where he’ll end up…your guess is as good as mine!
Juande Ramos could also be reunited with one of his former players from Sevilla, as Spurs are set to make a move for 20-year old winger Diego Capel, who’s also been linked with Arsenal and Real Madrid. Capel’s buy-out clause is only 9.5 million pounds, so they wouldn’t have to break the bank for him.
Rumor Rating: 4 – Let the battle begin! Real Madrid could be the team to beat, as they have an inside connection (his agent is Sergio Ramos‘ brother), but with that release clause, it’s only a matter of time before he’s off elsewhere.
Speaking of Ramos, according to the ever-reliable El Mundo Deportivo, Roman Abramovich is taking it upon himself to lure the Real Madrid defender to Chelsea, as he met with Ramos’ brother while in Madrid for the Euroleague Final Four and tabled a contract offer of 7 million a year.
But, The Guardian, however, says no such contact has been made, and that no deal has been struck with club or player, but think a move is inevitable – though not in the 50 million pound range as speculated recently.
Rumor Rating: 2 – Given how many names Chelsea are linked with, a lot of rumors can be dismissed. This one does seem to have some merit, but it’s another that goes in the ‘wait and see’ file.
One more Tottenham rumor before I go elsewhere – they’re also being linked with another move for Portsmouth midfielder Lassana Diarra. Diarra was a winter window target, but Arsenal shipped him off to Portsmouth instead, where the Frenchman is just biding his time before a bigger club comes in for him.
Rumor Rating: 3 – Does he really, really want to go back to London after how his spells at Chelsea and Arsenal went? Well, the third time could be the charm?
A potential name to watch for is Bolivian international striker Marcelo Moreno, who plays for Brazilian side Cruzeiro. The 20-year old scored eight goals for his club in the Copa Libertadores before they were knocked out in the round of 16, and has scored twice in four appearances for Bolivia.
It was reported a couple of days ago by Goal.com that Napoli were ahead in the race to sign him, but their most recent report quotes Moreno as saying that Manchester United and Shakhtar are in for him, and that nothing will be decided just yet.
Rumor Rating: 2 – See how this one develops, but whoever gets him will get quite the talent.

thanks for the transfer updates. keep’em coming
Danke, Keep them coming
most of the transfer rumours should be real in other for a fan to know the fate of his club.morealso the list of transfered players, the club transfered to and the amount should please be released or shown in the site or sent to registered boxes like mine thanks.
Kanu – will have a list of confirmed transfers up on the site soon – we’ve done it for the last 2 years btw, every transfer window.
If Arsenal want to kiss the tittle the coming season they must by Samuel Eto, they need to get a central defender just to strengthen their defensive. They should do what ever it takes to retain Alexander Hleb, this philosophy of buying big names is just a myth, consider that the player has to adopt first and get use to the environment which takes approximately 3-6 games, by that time how many draws and loose.
wenger has a passive way of looking on as others plunder the best of players;i wonder isn’t he tired of being third best.why can’t he buy some finished product?
arsenal a top side. They do not need players like samuel eto in their team to win. Was speaking to wenger the oter night.. He has alreadii signed nasri
yer i heard arsenal put a bid in for benzema aswell as nasri and some other french kid. juventus will win the champions league just letting everyone know
The FA league will be tough nxt season, every manager mst mak sure that his side is strong. The champion league wil be more tougher than before, considering the new blood in seria A, i wonder. Arsen Wenger mst jst get a striker lyk Etto, than Gunners wil take al Cups nxt season.
Wenger knows what he is doing…He is by far the best Coach I know (maybe a bit after Mourhinho) but the man is fabulous!!! I believe he will do what is best for the best club in the world…..ARSENAL!!!
i think arsene should look for a sharp striker like eto to strenthing his side, i dont think adebayo is talented enough even after scoring 30 goals i still dont belive in him.
I hope Diarra doesn’t go, he’s been awsome at Pompey
yo arsenal hav jus got da biggest signing yet – nasri! i’m tellin ya he gonna be a revelation if him and fabreg play together. otherwise man u mus chase robhino
i personally think arsenal should buy at least one quality player to strengthen the strike force upfront or the defense….to win the champions league o premier league, some experience is required
