Transfer Rumors (4 July 09): Manchester City to offer Chelsea’s Terry £200k per week, Everton after Man United’s Scholes, Tottenham in talks for Liverpool target Negredo, and more

Saturday may have been a holiday for me in the U.S., but no matter what day it is, I’ve got an attentive eye on the latest in transfer news and rumors.

Ahmed already covered the latest news on the Felipe Melo to Arsenal front, and in this morning’s roundup, I have several more tidbits from Saturday and early today to tide you over until next time, including another potential swap deal involving Arsenal and a top Serie A club.

England

City To Make Final Terry Offer

Manchester City are set to make a final offer of £35m to Chelsea for captain John Terry, and they plan to tempt Terry with wages of £200k per week. (Daily Mail)

Analysis: You never know, but I don’t see this one going anywhere.

Everton In For Scholes

Everton are trying to make a move for Paul Scholes, with the Toffees prepared to offer the veteran Manchester United midfielder a two-year deal and a potential coaching role. (The Mirror)

Analysis: Not a bad offer in the least, but I don’t see him leaving United.

Tottenham In Negredo Talks?

According to Spanish news reports, Tottenham officials met the agents of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Negredo to discuss a move to White Hart Lane. (Tribal Football)

Analysis: Negredo has been mentioned as a possible piece of a Real Madrid move for Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso, so any Spurs move could be contingent on whether or not Liverpool allow Alonso to leave.

Bent Opens Sunderland Talks

Tottenham striker Darren Bent has reportedly opened talks over a £10m move to Sunderland. (The Sun)

Analysis: It’d seem to be only a matter of time before he’s unveiled as a Sunderland player, but we’ll have to see if there are any hiccups in regards to the fee.

Portsmouth Bid For Belluschi

Portsmouth are launching a £7m bid for Olympiakos midfielder Fernando Belluschi. (The Mirror)

Analysis: Such a bid may well prove to be insignificant, as there are reports that Belluschi is on his way to Porto.

Bolton Back In For Bodde And Robinson

Bolton have made new bids of £3m for Swansea midfielder Ferrie Bodde and £750k for West Brom left back Paul Robinson. (The Mirror)

Analysis: That could be enough to tempt Robinson, but they’re still going to be well short on Bodde. However, Swansea could be a lot more open to selling Bodde after he skipped training last week.

Birmingham To Take Barton On Loan?

Birmingham City have inquired about taking Newcastle’s Joey Barton on loan. (Birmingham Mail)

Analysis: Barton would bring quality and Premier League experience to Birmingham, but it goes without saying that this would be a risky move.

Spain

Real To Bid For Maicon

The agent of Inter Milan right back Maicon says that he is expecting Real Madrid to launch a bid for the Brazil international. (Sky Sports)

Analysis: Real aren’t done spending yet, and after addressing the attack and the center of defense, Maicon could well be the next man on their agenda.

Italy

AC Milan To Make Adebayor Bid?

AC Milan are reportedly ready to make an offer of £20m plus former Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini for Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor. (The Mirror)

Analysis: Well that’s certainly an interesting offer, isn’t it? They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, but would Flamini get the greatest reception at Arsenal after the way he left the club? With that in mind, here’s a question for Arsenal fans: Would you rather have Adebayor or Flamini?

Udinese Interested In Obinna

Udinese are interested in Inter Milan striker Victor Obinna. (Tribal Football)

Analysis: Udinese have just brought in strikers Bernardo Corradi and Fabian Orellana after selling Fabio Quagliarella. But Antonio di Natale has been linked with a move this summer, and if he does indeed move, that will open the way for Obinna to make a move.

Lets see how loyal John Terry really is. The wages he is being offered at Man City is crazy money, but I know there are still footballers out there that play with their heart and not with their wallets.. Not so long ago John Terry promised Chelsea fans that he’d do everything in his power to make up for that Champions League final penalty miss so I expect him to stick to his word.

That Flamini + Cash is a very interesting bid for Arsenal. They have never been able to replace the hard tackling of Flamini since he left, and have been in the market for a defensive midfielder all summer. They have plenty of quality up front so that they wouldn’t sorely miss Adebayor, and could use that money to get a center back or a replacement striker. I think this would be a good move for the Gunners.
