Transfer Rumours: Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Aston Villa, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Real Madrid

Today’s top transfer rumors:

For a long, long time Wagner Love has been tipped to join the English Premier League and under the current circumstances it appears that he shall be another expensive import to the English game as soon as January next year.

The 23-year Brazilian striker currently plays for Russian powerhouse CSKA Moscow and has been their best player for some time. But now that he is falling out with his club manager Valery Gazzaev, a number of European clubs’ names have been mentioned in relation to snapping up the talented Brazilian.

Chelsea appear the most vociferous with manager Avram Grant said to be monitoring the situation closely. Chelsea desperately need a striker to replace Didier Drogba who could miss no fewer than 11 matches for the club due to his surgery and African Nations’ Cup commitment. Fiorentina are said to be another club linked to Wagner.

Catalan daily Sport, which is often considered as a mere joker when it comes to transfer speculations, has flared up the Cristiano Ronaldo transfer saga once more. Only this time, the club he is supposed to be heading is not Real Madrid but FC Barcelona. Sport suggests that should Ronaldinho be sold at a hefty price, then President Joan Laporta could well flux in some extra cash and lure the 22-year old Portuguese winger from Manchester United and to Camp Nou. Ronaldinho though has consistently repeated that he is happy with Barcelona and has no plans to move elsewhere.

According to the Mail in England, Arsenal’s recently conceived love affair with Croatian football is no mood of abating. Manager Arsene Wenger signed Brazilian-born Croatian international striker Eduardo da Silva from Dinamo Zagreb in the summer and appears to be keen on adding the club’s midfielder Luca Modric. The newspaper claims that Arsenal had top representatives is in Croatia on Wednesday to watch Modric play for Dinamo against SV Hamburg in the Uefa Cup, a match which they lost 2-0.

Inter Milan scouts appear to have been busy this weekend with several of them reportedly at the match between AS Monaco and Olympique de Marseille on Saturday to take notes on the Monaco midfielder Jeremy Menez. Inter Milan are also supposed to be still interested in Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and are contemplating launching a bid for the Chelsea striker Andry Shevchenko. As for Inter’s bitter city rivals AC Milan, they are closing on a deal to sign Argentine sensation Ever Banega from Boca Juniors. Milan have been reported to have made a bid of just over $8 million for Catania defender Jorge Vragas.

Meanwhile Real Madrid sports director Pedja Mijatovic has been reported to have a reasonable good interest in the AS Roma duo of Amantino Mancini and Mirko Vucinic. Real Madrid might have one of the largest squad in Europe but manager Bernd Schuster is crying for more and better players to fill certain voids in his team and also to play in a more entertaining style.

Coming to matters in England and Manchester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has dismissed rumors that Manchester City midfielder Michael Johnson is for sale and as even gone as far as suggest that he would let the player move to Liverpool only if he gets both Alonso and Gerrard.

Aston Villa are going strong in the English Premier League and is firmly in the running for a UEFA Cup spot next season (the blip against Portsmouth notwithstanding). It is in this regard that manger Martin O’Neill is trying to strengthen his squad. If the News of the World is to be believed, then Villa are on the brink of signing Derby County winger Giles Barnes for around $10 million as soon as January.

Aston Villa youngster Gabriel Agbonahor has been the speculation of a move for quite sometime and now looks to be the reason for a tug-of-war between Manchester United and Arsenal. The Sunday Express has reported that Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is mulling over a splash out of over $30 million to lure the England U21 international player to Old Trafford while Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger too is quite keen on adding another young gem to his already brilliant Arsenal squad.

Arsene Wenger should make major signing especailly in the midfeild following the departure of Flamin, secondly Arsenal needs a prolfic goal scorer to partner him with Adebayor, otherwise the club will take centuries to taste on the sweetness of any trouphy if no big names are at Emirates.
