Transfer Roundup (Dec 2, 2008)- Real To Sign Dutch Striker, Liverpool To Sign Real Defender, Arsenal in for Serie A midfielder and more

Written by Subhankar Mondal

The January winter transfer is still a month away but it appears that reigning Spanish champions and European giants Real Madrid have already made their first winter signing. And Premier League clubs Liverpool and Arsenal are looking to add their squad and have been seeking reinforcements.

Real Madrid On The Verge Of Signing Klaas-Jan Huntelaar

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon had earlier stated that they would sign two strikers in January. One of them appears to be the Dutch international striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. Talks are said to be at an advanced state with Ajax.

Giovinco Staying At Juventus

Poor old Gianfranco Zola’s dream of landing Italian youngster Sebastian Giovinco from Juventus seems to have suffered a huge blow as the player’s agent has confirmed that the 21-year is not leaving Turin.

Arsenal Not Alone In Felipe Melo Bid

Premier League club Arsenal have discovered that they are not the only European powerhouse who are interesting in signing the Brazilian midfielder from Fiorentina.

Liverpool To Sign Gabriel Heinze?

Rafael Benitez failed to land the versatile Argentine international footballer in the summer of 2007 but he seems intent on signing him this January from Real Madrid.

Didier Drogba Not Going To Inter Milan

Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon has declared that star striker Didier Drogba is not leaving for Inter Milan in January. So apparently Drogba-Inter link should now be de-linked.

So these were the main transfer news today. Understandably there should be more tomorrow. Hopefully we shall have a more concrete idea on whether Real Madrid shall finall get to sign Huntelaar or not.
