Escude started his career as a left back at AS Cannes. He remained at the same position for his next two clubs Stade Rennais FC and Ajax Amsterdam. But once he joined Sevilla in January 2006 Ramos changed him to centre back as he already had the position covered with Ivica DragutinoviÄ‡ in there also at that time Antonio Puerta was also available who could alos play Left Wing Back.
