Transfer deadline extended - more time For Berbatov, Barry and the rest

Written by Soccerlens

The Premier League has confirmed the first transfer deadline of the season has been extended until 1 September.

The window is scheduled to close 24 hours earlier but, following normal league guidelines, it has been put back because August 31 falls on a Sunday.

The move has been agreed between the Premier League, Football League and Football Association.

Once the deadline passes, teams will then have to wait until January 2009 to sign players from other clubs.

  1. For Barry and Berbatov, it’s no more time: they’ve got be registered for the Champions League and that deadline remains August 31 - UEFA have not agreed to move it.

Barry is already cup-tied for Champions League purposes until 2009, so the UEFA deadline is irrelevant.

  4. The transfer deadline should end on the 1st August and therefore make sure each team have got their house in order and squads together before the season starts.

A decent coach should be able to back their judgement. Not make an awful start to the season and be able to say oh my god I got it totally wrong, and go and buy 3 or 4 new players

Arsenl are getting Barry… thank God Alonso has proved he is better and deserves another couple of seasons with us :) I think Alonso at Arsenal would make them true faviourites for the league. If he does go to them my money will be on them.
