Tottenham to buy back old boy Keane in January?

Tottenham to buy back old boy Keane in January?

Could Robbie Keane be on his way back to Tottenham only months after leaving the club for greener pastures?

According to the ever-reliable News of the World, Harry Redknapp could be set to make a bid for the Irishman, who has been a big disappointment since his dream move to Anfield. Keane has scored only two Premier League goals and four overall, and he was an unused sub in Saturday’s 3-1 win at Blackburn.

Liverpool would be just a little unhappy to take a big loss on their £20m man, but they’ve managed to climb atop the Premier League table even without him contributing as many goals as expected.

I’d like to think that Rafa Benitez would give Keane the course of a season to prove himself, and given his track record, it should be only a matter of time before the goals start coming.

However, with him looking to make a few additions and cut a few losses in January, Keane could be on his way out if the right offer comes in from Spurs. According to the report, because Liverpool agreed to make the payment in installments, an estimated £10m is still owed. That means that Spurs could waive the remaining payments, which will lessen the amount that they’d have to pay to bring Keane back to north London.

The big question is whether or not Tottenham supporters would be happy to see Keane back after he bolted in the summer. A few goals make everything better, and while it’d probably get him back on the good side of those at White Hart Lane in the future, it’d close off a lot of speculation if he started scoring for the Reds soon.

Should Rafa give Robbie more time to prove himself, or can January not come soon enough? Would Tottenham fans welcome back Keane with open arms?

  1. I thought premier rules don’t allow a player to return to a club within a year, which is why Defoe can’t return in January so Keane will definately not be able to return

  2. So to continue I think this is a load of old pony

  3. defoe has been gone for a year so how did you work that one out??If keane was to leave he would only go to spurs as any club im sure would have to take on the 10million debt owed to spurs and im sure liverpool would want to get there money back so spurs best option but cant really seeing him leave he might not be on the scoresheet but as spurs fans know he didnt have to score to be part of the team terrific player with great stamina and workrate no matter if he wasnt scoring

well,I think Keane should be given more time to flourish,he just needs to get his partnership with Torres going & then goals will be coming.

  5. adz i think this is more just a theory rather than a rumour

Keane is definitely yet to hit his straps at Liverpool but if the goals start coming, we will hang on to him. However, with Michael Owen on his way out at Newcastle, I think it would be great if we could pick him up again. If that were to happen, it would definitely spell the end for Keane at Liverpool.

Overall, though, I think that Rafa will stick with Keane. He works hard and is a true team player and if the results are coming but the goals arent, Im sure he will be happy enough.

  6. So many papers not just the news of the world have been saying keane is on his way back. to answer what adz said about keane not being able to , it might explain why quite a few of the papers are saying keane will go on loan till the end of the season then sign permanently at spurs. He will definatly only go back to spurs because of the price. And with out doubt the spurs fans will love to have him back.its talk of the town in north london at the mo.COME HOME KEANO!!!!
