Tottenham set to beat Arsenal to sign £8m French striker

Tottenham are leading the chase to sign French striker Loic Remy in the summer, according to reports from France.

The 27-year-old QPR striker, who has had a great campaign for Newcastle last season, where he scored 14 league goals, has been a reported target of several Premier League clubs including Arsenal and Liverpool.

The Gunners need a striker in the summer and have targeted Remy, who has a reported £8m release clause on his contract.

Liverpool are also thought to be interested in him and have scouted the player on few occasions. Furthermore, club legend and now football pundit Mark Lawrenson had urged manager Brendan Rodgers to sign the striker. However, having signed Rickie Lambert from Southampton, it is hard to see Liverpool going for any other striker again in this transfer window.

French magazine Le 10 Sport now claims that Tottenham Hotspur are leading the chase to sign Remy and the North London club have offered him a four-year-contract already. New manager Mauricio Pochettino is keen to add a good striker to the side and wants Remy to lead the attacking line at the White Hart Lane.

  1. Wouldn’t be my first choice, but I understand the 25mill strikers are probably too much money for the club to pay out after the money spent last season. At least he’s played in the league, which is something that surely was required. Hopefully he’ll keep fit for the whole season, he should get near, if not pass, 20 goals. COYS

    • 25m too much for the club….I don’t think so seeing that all Levy does is sell our top boys for his benefit every year

  2. it would be nice to see a list of who Tottenham do not want. It would be shorter

  3. a great buy at 8mil.also a proven league the Chelsea striker or the Manchester striker and spurs will be true contenders for the league.

  4. Would prefer a striker more prolific this guy can also be very lazy for me he is another Bent who just could not at WHL . .
