According to reports from the London Evening Standard, Tottenham are plotting a £6m transfer move for Burnely striker Danny Ings who is set to be a free agent from Monday. The report states that Liverpool remain favourited to sign the England Under-21 international but Tottenham are pushing hard to sign the player. Ings has scored 11 goals in 35 appearances this season but failed to save Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League.

The 22 year old is likely to be available for around £5m to £6m training compensation for Burnley, the club where he has spent the last four years of his career. It is believed that Burnley will offer Ings a new contract as a formality in order to qualify for the compensation due under Premier League regulations. Should both the parties fail to agree on a deal, Ings’ transfer fee will be decided by a tribunal.

Ings has already confirmed to Burnley fans that he would be leaving at the end of the season and the player is expected to make a final decision in the next two weeks after assessing his options. Liverpool have been interested in the striker for quite some time now but Tottenham’s entry to sign the player will mean that the Reds will push hard to secure the deal in the coming weeks.
