It is indeed refreshing to read considered opinion about the current situation at Manchester City, and Neil Jones’ analysis of the Blues’ buying strategy is spot on. Craig Bellamy is not worth Â£14m but he is worth around Â£2m in ‘City money’ considering City’s finances are entirely different from any other club’s on the planet. Putting Kompany in the back four and positioning Zabaleta in midfield seems to be a stroke of genius from Mark Hughes. He appears to be getting a ‘feel’ for choosing the right team – Richards (belatedly) and Ireland have certainly benefited from his positioning tactics. For those who are a tad impatient, just wait and see. City will come good eventually. Probably not this season – although a top eight finish is not impossible – but certainly next, when the squad, strengthened by a few more astute signings, including maybe a marquee one, will show its mettle. I am quietly confident Hughes is the right man for this long-term ‘project’.

I’ve read a lot of articles of this ilk over the last month, and this is the only one I’ve read where the writer actually knows what he’s talking about. I’m a Spurs fan and I completely agree with everything mentioned about us here. Hats off to that rarest of things these days, a football writer who knows his stuff.

im a city fan and im all for signing top players but what city needs is a true world class player like messi or even someone at the back like terry. city need a team that will not only need a team that can make euroupe but can dominate in europe. city need a big name player to join robinho!!!

I really enjoy the transfer window periods!!

I think it should be over a week tho!!

On the last day of the window i get a load of mates together and we have drink while watching what happens over the day in the transfer window!!
