Pitch a well-organised lower league side against a Premier league reserve side with limited competitive experience and not much practice playing together and it is less surprising that Man U lost. Having said that if the Spanish approach of allowing top flight teams B sides in lower divisions was adopted the Man U second eleven over the course of a season would almost certainly finish higher than most lower league teams.
