Great article Hugo. I knew much about his time at Hibs and have kept a close eye on development at WBA but I had little knowledge of the man before that.
At Hibs he was blessed with one of the finest groups of youth players produced in recent years in Scotland but he can take credit for helping them blossom. They were awesome when they were on song.
If he was backed with a bit of money and was able to find a decent goalkeeper from somewhere then he would undoubtedly have won something for the Hibees.

Thanks so much for the positive feedback. I think that it is important that such characters as Mowbray and Penney, as well as the others about whom I will be writing, are not lost in the currents of Mourinho-worship and BenÃtez-derision.

wonder if he’ll play the same attacking style when(or if) west brom get promoted to the premier league.Yeah agree with you graham, mowbray’s a dull character but plays attacking football kinda like steve coppell(well last season anyway)

Great article Hugo. Mowbray seems to be such a dour character, but his teams play with a free spirit. It seems like a contradiction.

I’m sure he will go on to bigger and better things.

On to Tony Mowbray himself – he just signed a new contract, didn’t he?

He could probably do better at Boro than Southgate…
