Sorry, but I think we've all missed the point here. The players do dive and it is a terrible blight on football. But who's fault is it really? Is it really the players for wanting to win a match for the club he loves *chortle*? The referees must be in better positions and must recognise signs that a player is diving, such as the "superman" arms that N'gog showed.

The FAs around the world should not be punishing players for diving after the fact (like Eduardo's sentence) but the referees should pick up on dives and give the player his due caution. I believe the system that is used in the A-League where players are handed an automatic 2 game suspension if they are cautioned during the match for "simulation". This puts the onus on the referees to make the calls, but it also provides a risk for players that they must weigh up before they dive.

Everyone hates it when players and Fergie bag referees but we have to bear in mind that referees are also professionals, and this is how they make their money. However, managers like Ferguson cannot take this too far and blame a ref when he has a good game (Mike Riley).

The point of avoiding the challenge is an interesting one. Lets face it, who would happily be on the receiving end of a tackle of an old English pro with a 'hardman' reputation, especially when he comes in to the challenge with studs up like Carsley did. Especially when you are trying to launch your career and have just started getting regular game time, you wouldn't want to break your leg now.

Be fair to the lad. He is used to playing 10mins a game and he finally has a great chance to launch his career from.

all players dive, rooney won a penalty recently after going down before he got touched.just because he was touched slightly,it was contact so it was a pen.players anticipate this and unluckily for ngog he didnt get touched by carsley.when i seen it i thought a pen straight away,it was an excellent dive.referee's do not have the chance to watch replay's million's of time's like the pundit's and then make a decision.
