Barcelona could have signed Courtois for paltry fee in 2011

Thibaut Courtois has bid farewell to his Atletico Madrid team-mates, as he gets ready to join Chelsea in the summer.

Courtois has spent the last three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid, since joining Chelsea from Genk in 2011. The Belgium number one has established himself as one of the best keepers in the world at the moment is now looking to start a fresh chapter with Chelsea, although Atletico tried their best to sign him up permanently.

According to Mundo Deportivo, they were even close to come to an agreement with Chelsea but following the Blues’ defeat at the hands of Atletico in the Champions League semi-final, such plans were gone out of window.

Courtois announced his decision to leave Atletico and join Chelsea during the World Cup in Brazil and now he formally bids farewell to his team mates and staff members of the club prior to his move to Los Angeles.

  1. What a good news to have our loned keeper back after some years ago… Good to hear that is back and be the NO, 1

  2. That is a great thing to hear that our keeper is coming back home after all this while on loan

  3. The true blue, but I have my reservation about him. Lets hope he performs well for us.

  4. The move is a timeous one and set to be competitive and highly productive for Chelsea fans and a team as a whole.
