I agree – Zidane: Portrait of the 21st Century is gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. Zidane’s comments in the film about being sort of aware of the fans are really interesting, too.

You can buy DVDs of the film in the grocery store in France – but it’s not released in the US as far as I know….

Substitute should get a theatrical release in the summer 2008 – it’s the dead opposite of Zidane- low-fi, grainy, and nearly zero actual football!

Sounds like an interesting film – thanks for the article. I must say, I am impressed by the probing into the football experience by the film industry: “Zidane” was a chef d’oeuvre.

I am gueesing my previous comment was deleted. I am not trying to be affronting, but i think its a bit hypocritical. Afterall putting up accompanying pictures of ‘models’ that have nothing to do with a particular story are somewhat encouraged on this blog. Besides I don’t think I said anything that offensive. I only pointed out an intersting fact about the picture
