Can't disagree with either of you. 4-0/4-1 was my mistake. Apologies.

And I know, money was spent before and after failure to qualify for the Champions League last season, and without that Rangers wouldn't have some of their more key players, and injuries obviously play a part. It's still a problem though.

And any manager not getting great results is under pressure. The fans may back Smith for who he is and all he's done for the club, but if they're not under pressure from the fans, they'll be putting themselves under pressure, as they'll know that results could be better.

Well said Andy.

Missing out on Europe last year appears to have been more expensive than anyone could have forseen at the time. Particularily after the club continued to add player which saw us through to a League Championship and a Cup win.

Injuries with Broadfoot and Edu have been more expensive too. If both were healthy then the addition of McCulloch and Edu fighting for playing time in the midfield surely would have had a positive effect on the movement and work rate seen in both league and european competitions this year.

Alan,

Not a bad piece but there are some inaccuracies in it. Are you a Rangers supporter or someone interested in Scottish football?

Firstly, the club spent a large amount of cash last season after we were turfed out of the Champion's League qualifier. This has added significantly to the debt but included some very much needed additions to the squad.

Secondly, for what it's worth, Unirea won 4-1, not 4-0. Humiliating all the same but we went a goal up inside a couple of minutes and then missed a penalty before the second half catastrophe.

I don't think there is as much pressure on Walter Smith as you're making out. The fans at the moment are concered with the club itself, rather than the results, and we are unbeaten in all domestic competitions so far (the only British club to claim such?) The fans realise that Walter and Ally are working under incredibly difficult circumstances so it's more a case of being in it together than heaping more pressure on the manager.
