The New Juventus: back to the Champions League
2008/09 will be a season that all faithful Juve fans have been waiting for. Return to the Champions League and a real title challenge awaits them, and with these challenges must come new players.
Dario Knezevic chose Juventus to end an embarrassing transfer derby between Juve and Torino (Livorno President Franco Spinelli had sold Knezevic both to Juve and Torino). Amauri completed his big money move to Juventus a couple of months ago, and Olof Mellberg and Albin Ekdal joined in January. Sebastian Giovinco and Paolo De Ceglie returned from loans, and Lanzafame and Criscito were given over to Palermo and Genoa respectively. Now for the midfielder all of us have been waiting for.
Along with the Cristiano Ronaldo fiasco, Juve’s search for a midfielder has been one of the most popular football soaps in Italy so far. First it seemed as though Xabi Alonso was a done deal, then Liverpool wanted more money. Then it was announced Dejan Stankovic had signed from Inter, but the fans rejected him.
Bastian Schweinsteiger said he would join if Germany won EURO 2008, but they didn’t. Alberto Aquilani was convinced to join Juve in a deal that would bring Vincenzo Iaquinta to AS Roma, but that now seems improbable. Miguel Veloso was apparently too costly, and then Christian Poulsen popped up.
Then, just messing up the whole saga even more, Juve announced they were trying to sign Zaragoza striker Diego Milito to replace outgoing striker Vincenzo Iaquinta (Trezeguet said he didn’t want to leave). Xabi Alonso has come up again, but, in order to pay Liverpool, Juve need to sell Tiago and Almiron soon because they have to announce the new midfielder next week.
This is my ideal Juventus 2008/09 starting lineup:
4-3-3
GK: Buffon
DF: Grygera, Mellberg, Knezevic, Chiellini
MF: Sissoko, Poulsen, Aquilani
ST: Del Piero, D. Milito, Amauri
That team is worthy of the treble. What do you guys think?

d milito ????????? what the hell man ???? Where’s TREZEGUET ?? like a juve fan you said you are…then you should know that David can play and score goals until he’s 34-35 years old….d milito ?? he didn’t prove anything comparing with the frenchman…I mean did he score consecutive season over 15 goals ??? poulsen and aquillani ??? no thanks..where are Camoranesi and Nedved…it’ clear that Juve will play with 2 strikers and with 4 midfielders…
Here’s the team for you:
Bufon
Grygera Mellberg Andrade Chiellini
Camoranesi Sissoko Alonso( if not him then Zanetti) Nedved
Del Piero Trezeguet
we can’t change all of our team !..we would lose our symbols..our identity…
juventus said that they don’t want Trezeguet.
when and who said that ?? on the contrary..I know he’s an important first team piece..and Juve will rely on him this season..
Bufon
Grygera Mellberg Chiellini Pasqual
Camoranesi Sissoko Alonso
Giovinco
Del Piero Trezeguet
Buffon
Grygera,Melber,Chiellini,Drenthe
Sissoko
Camoranesi, Alonso, Giovinco
Del Piero, Amauri
Reduce amount of crossing…
Play short and beautiful…
Giovinco, do your best!
Buffon
Grygera Legrottagli Chiellini Zebina..
camoranessi C.zenetti M.sissoko nedved
(c) DEL PIERO Trezeguet
juve will always star with dis formation…
FORCE JUVENTUS
The best formation would be:
Zebina Legrottaglie Chiellini Molinaro
Camoranesi Sissoko ALonso Nedved
Del Piero(Amauri) Trezeguet (Iaquinta)
That starting lineup is the biggest joke I’ve ever seen. I hope this wasn’t written by a Juventus fan. A lot of other ones are wrong too, Zebina/Molinaro? Both were dreadful.
Milito is no way better than Trezeguet or Iaquinta.
This is what Juve should go with.
Buffon
Mellberg Chiellini Andrade Grygera
Camoranesi Sissoko Alonso Nedved
Del Piero/Trez
Subs: Amauri, Iaquinta, Zanetti, Salihamidzic, Legrottaglie, Belardi
yes, he is.
maybe trez will go to spain?
that line up is terrible, i’m not a diehard juve fan although i do really admire the club, and i know that that is a terrible lineup
I like david’s lineup, del piero and trez up front(its one of the few constants in club football), i think amauri and iaquinta could spell either at any time without skipping a beat, i dont see why juve would see iaquinta, he’s a loved figure in turin and he’s a great inspiring player, del piero is losing a step every year and they will need the four strikers with the age of trez and del piero — on another note i think xabi alonso will sign eventually and he will be a great success — this is the perfect year for juve to take back the scudetto because inter will be in an awkward transition with mourinho and very few of the players he desires, and milan are on a downward spiral — i think roma were a good story last year but juve far outclass them — everythings lining up for them to finally put the scandals of 2006 behind them
sorry except david’s backline, mellberg will start
The repeated inclusion of del piero worries me. I have been a juve fan for over 10 years where del piero was the icon, but for juve to be seriously competitive they have to move del piero to a substitute role. Amauri is the future and an incredible striker who has many advantages on del piero. In the back we have a few issues but we will have to see how the team gels.
My starting lineup would be:
Grygera - Legrottaglie - Chiellini - Mellberg
Camoranesi - Sissoko - Poulsen / Alonso - Nedved
Amauri - Trez
i dissagree with the initial lineup listed. some of the other ones look ok but the best lineup would be:
Buffon
Grygera-Mellberg-Legrottaglie-Mellberg
Camoranesi-Sissoko-Poulsen-Nedved
Del Piero-Amauri
not that i dont think trez deserves to start but del piero closed last year much better and he played with the italian national team so i think he is probably more fit right now.
