The Most Biased Article (about Arsenal) You’ll Ever See on Soccerlens

WARNING- This is going to be one of the most biased articles that you’ve ever read on SoccerLens, so if you don’t like that kind of thing I suggest you don’t read it. I’ve seen a lot of Manchester United based articles from the likes of Ahmed and my other fellow writers here, so I thought it’s probably the perfect time to reciprocate for (and probably piss off around 95% of you) my favourite team; that is the Arsenal.
First off; top of the league. Many wrote off Wenger and the young Arsenal side before the season; telling us that Arsenal would struggle to make the top four and could even be usurped by the wealth of Tottenham, currently in the relegation zone (where they deserve to be, but that’s for another article :D) and various other teams. Well, the statistics speak for themselves- played nine, won eight- two points ahead of Manchester United in second with a game in hand. Granted, the next two games are tough; Liverpool at Anfield followed by a visit by Manchester United to the Emirates, but this team has shown that it can compete with the best in the past, and will surely do so again.
Many have hinted that it may be possible, but few have stated it as a given; here I will- Arsenal are going to win the Premier League this season. Cockiness rarely gets you anything in life apart from a good thrashing, which I promise that all the readers of SoccerLens may give me should we not be top in May. However, I see no reason we cannot win it, and definitely think that we can beat off Manchester United- who have played far worse than they did last season; Chelsea, who may well lose out their top four place to Manchester City unless Abramovich splurges in January and Liverpool, who were never capable of winning it anyway (yes, I’m expecting a round of hammering for that statement too).
Arsenal are a youthful side, but this season they have grown to possess maturity as well. In the past, teams found they could physically affect Arsenal enough to put them off their stride; this year, it will take a lot more to sneak a win from the Gunners. While the two games coming up are definitely hazards for us (in fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if we lost to Liverpool), we will still have enough quality to rise to the top, and in this league that is what matters. I feel that this team has the potential to match the feats of the ‘Invincibles’, and with the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Emmanuel Adebayor and Manuel Almunia all in the best form of their careers, it seems that this team can only continue to get better.
Anyways, feel free to bash me using the comments section below; when one writes such an extremely biased article, one expects it. Do you think Arsenal won’t win the league, and Manchester United or Chelsea will claim it (Sorry to write off Liverpool, but they’ve done jackshit in the league for the last seventeen years)? Post below and I’ll try and respond to some of the sensible (and not so sensible) comments :).

Not that biased really, pretty sure I seen a Man Utd article (from this site I think) where the dude thought that Man Utd had better players in every position than Arsenal and pretty much said that even their security stewards are better than Arsenal.
I think it’s the great article.I liked it very much.
Thank you Jason Pereira.
no question that i am an arsenal fan but it is hard for any other supporters to argue with you. The facts dont lie. United will be a tough game and so will liverpool but i would not mind even if we lost both- last season we only lost once to the top four and finished fourth. i rather the opposite and win the league. People say we have only played minnow teams and haven’t been tested- they forget that was our major problem last season and we have shown improvement- turning draws into wins PLUS we have beaten Man City and Portsmouth who in case anybody haven’t noticed are in the top half of the league. I do not know if we are going to win the league and rather not predict and go along with the team mentality and alot of gooners- enjoy the ride and take every game as it come without expectations!! GO GOONERS!
Great article. Couldn’t agree more.
Great article! Love the bias! Keep it up!
before I reply, am not the biased ahmed, am an arsenal fan.
I liked this biased article, we have a very good chance this season, but you cant write man u off, they had a very bad start yet they are on our tail. Agreed with the fact that liverpool will win jacksh** rafa’s rotation policy makes me wonder how he ever won the champions league. I think City will be a threat too (challenging for ManU’s second spot that is)
chelsea lost that bully attitude with the loss of the special one so I dont see how a team (who dont like their new manager) could compete for the top spot.
This article is bias but you certainly dont get the ‘most biased’ award.
Firstly, you aknowledge your bias frequently as if to try and bait and antagonise people(Quote: If you have to remind someone that you are important, you aren’t)
Secodnly, it isn’t bias because you actually, use reason, insight and present facts rather than making sweeping statements
Good article though!
SPOT ON DUDE!!!…LOVED IT
Well I do think it’s a fairly biased article. Funnily enough, I am a Spurs fan but I tipped Arsenal for 1st or 2nd in the league this season (and was faced with a round of loud guffaws from others in the pub when watching Arsenal matches).
But, whilst most things Arsenal are pretty rosy, I wouldn’t get over-excited yet. One, because the league is young. Two, because United have the quality and the physical presence to bash you in a couple of games time (which may or may not happen). Three, because whilst there have been some outstanding performances, the games against Blackburn, City and even yesterday were not exemplary. Equally, whilst I think Fabregas is one of the great talents of world football (and you only have to see my numerous homilies to him in other Soccerlens articles), I think Ade’s form is temporary (like Reyes’ burst of goals at the beginning of the season 2 years ago, and Wiltord’s the season before that) and that he is not of the calibre of any of the top United strikers. So Bendtner or Walcott may have to come in and take some of the goalscoring responsibility.
I also think that there are weaknesses in the Arsenal squad, particularly in defence. Senderos has never fully convinced and whilst Toure-Gallas at its best has the potential to rival Ferdinand-Vidic, the tandem clearly isn’t quite there yet.
Still, I am looking forward to the United-Arsenal clashes.
LOVED IT great article, ARSENAL will win legaue and I can brag to all my Man Utd loving teammates
i no arsenal have not faced a ‘real’ test yet but they have beaten all the minnows and average teams. thats all they need. titles are not won with derby victories but with consistency and beating the teams u shud. if u lose every match against top 4 and win all the rest u will win the title, so i reckon that arsenal have a good shot at winning the title if they can keep this form up. in the end i expect the title to come between man u, arsenal and chelski.arsenal are flying, united has started to kick into first gear and chelski hav 2 many quality players not to be in the mix, no matter who the coach is.
Well its pretty soon to say we will win the league, if you waited until two weeks time you could judge them better, since if you lose against liverpool and united i’m fairly sure you won’t be top anymore…and if united go top then they won’t have as many hard matches as you(since they already played Portsmouth away, which makes a big difference, and they’ve already played Arsenal away too…)
Naaah, can’t see them finishing above Newcastle to be honest
the hell, united were never playing wort than they were last season, we just wernt scoring, if we didntslip up against pompey we would be level with you right now, and trust me when i say, your not going to beat both united and scouserville, 1 of us will beat you and then united will go top.
Just came by and saw this interesting article on Arsenal.
Can’t find anything biased on Arsenal and the points are well-founded. Arsenal are getting the results and defying their critics, and it is always a joy to see an exciting batch of youngsters stepping up to replace the seniors.
The real test will come when they face Manchester United and Liverpool soon.
Good article! I am an Arsenal fan and share a lot of the views put across. Although I’d love to see Arsenal top of the table come May, I think there are some major obstacles to that.
Biggest one is Gilberto leaving in January. Without Gilberto, the squad is not mature enough to handle everything that’s thrown at them or will be thrown at them over the rest of the seaosn. I think Arsene is making a big mistake by not playing Gilberto, and by letting him leave in January.
On and off the pitch, Gilberto is an example for teammates and younger players. He has a calming influence on the entire team and this was visible in the last two matches before Bolton where we had to grind out the results. Neither does he have the overbearing presence of Henry which pressured everyone to pass the ball to him. Neither can Flamini or Diarra yet match Gilberto’s abilities on the field with regard to holding the ball and providing defensive cover.
When tempers began to fray in 1st half against Bolton, Gallas could not really contain Fabregas and the rest. Thats where I think Gilberto’s presence will be important, because situations like these can be frequent with a young team like Arsenal.
Gilberto hasn’t really been missed so far because we haven’t played a team with a very strong midfield yet. That will be Flamini’s (or Diarra’s) real test and also of an Arsenal squad without Gilberto. I think the next two matches will be crucial in deciding whether Wenger’s young guns have really come of age… I think they still need some maturity and someone to look up to.
very good article, i’m an arsenal fan but it correctly highlights how good they’ve bben this season, and where there are sides like portsmouth who usually get a draw, we finished them off and you can tell we will win da title
On the subject of best players in the League…
- - - - - James
Sagna - Toure - Vidic - Clichy
Ronaldo - Fabregas - Scholes - Elano
- - - Adebayor Rooney
And I was trying my hardest to not have a bias against Arsenal. In my opinion, Hleb would be there instead of Ronaldo and Van Persie instead of Rooney.
You wanted a thrashing and now you are gonna get it
Good article by the way.
It is great to see Man Utd and Arsenal revive their woderful rivalry, it was missed when Chelsea took over with their boring footy but now the best team in the world and the youngest team in England can rectify that. Will Arsenal win the title? Remains to be seen whether SAF sells all his players during the trasfer window :P…. seriously it will be a tight race but honestly I see Man Utd finishing a good 7 points ahead of Arsenal.
You are not biased at all are you Goofle? My best would look something like:
VDS
Richards Vidic Rio Evra - need I continue? yes?
Ronaldo Essien Fabregas Hleb
Rooney Tevez - what did you expect?
i dont think this comment is biased at all the facts speak 4 themselves 8 wins 1 draw 0 lost scored 21 conceded 6 simple
andrei ur a tosser
if ur intention was really to piss the man utd fans…..BEtTER LUCK nEXT TIME……….
he he….i really do hope u eat humble pie for the next two weeks….. away from the article though…. the gooners did’nt seem to find thier bearings against bolton.. is this a case of a motorbike???? fast accelaration but no speed to last the race against a car???
Good article!
No biase; you are just telling what any independant observer sees this season, a really different Arsenal. They need to keep discipline very tight and they will beat any team including Liverpool and United.
I am among those who have predicted that the Gunners will be Champion this season. It will be tough I reckon.
Thank you.
What bias ?
yes, ic, absolutely no biase…….roflmfaoolotfculapops-Rollin On Floor Laughin My F****** Ass Off Out Loud On The Floor Cracking Up Like A Piece Of Pork Skin
Andrei…
What is that about? Thats a seriosley shite team.
Funny you Gooners, you have not had a real test yet this season, apart from a strong Blackburn squad, whom you drew with. Dont get too excited yet, though I will admit Van Persie and Fabregas have looked world class this season as well as Adebayor and others who have also looked good. However this young team might fall short come the end of the season, especially (and it will happen) when injuries start piling up.
So until we get our revenge at the Emirates, after last years Henry-inspired come back, It seems Arsenal are worthy table toppers, for the time being at least.
#18’s team is the most ridiculous “best team in the league” i have ever seen,I cant see haow any1 can argue that. The best team in the league would look somin like this
Cech
Richards Ferdinand Carragher Evra
Ronaldo Essien Fabregas Elano
Rooney Van Persie
It hurt including Elano in that team but he really has been amazing
Definately no bias there. Gooners all the way.
Dont think it was biased. I think Man U will be were we may slip though as opposed to Liverpool. Without Alonso theyre hopeless. Based on yesterdays performance i think Mascherano and Reina were the only players on the pitch who Id even consider wanting in arsenals line up at the moment. Man U are starting to click but there midfield will be suspect. Its just a case of whether rooney or tevez produce. If they both have off days we will be laughing in two weeks.
First up, nice bit on that honesty part. No one who writes or reads about football can claim to be unbiased in his decisions. We are all fans of some clubs and players in the 1st place.
If the league was to end today, Arsenal would be crowned Champions. Fair bit on the optimism but the league ends in May. I would like to see Arsenal’s boys take on the other Big 3 first before making a final judgment on them.
But they have looked very impressive so far and who is to say that they can’t go on to win? I do have doubts though on their depth in terms of experience. The Decemeber period will be testing with the load of games coming up. Fabregas, van Persie and Toure are the backbone of this youthful side and will prove very important. If Arsenal can keep them healthy in the race, then I do think Arsenal will have a big say in May.
I am a Utd fan and my money is on Utd with their mix of experience and ability will get them the title. However I am getting ready for a real tough challenge from the Gunners.
Adebayor is so wasteful, uninteligent routine player who never learn. How do you say he is currentyl enjoying good form? Why dont you wait until the next time he is playing at Derby? To be top you have to take your chances and not squander one after the other and never learn!
Baised reporting is hopeless if Arsenal can’t be ruthless then you are yet to see where their weakness lies. Invincibles? The Pireses and Vieras and Henrys and Gilbertoes and Lungbergs were scoring at will and took their chances. You score six they score seven and thats it!
Give Eduardo and Bendtner chances. Despit all that Ade still plays 98 mins a game!
Oh by the way, if we were to make a First XI based on the Big 4, how many players from each club would make the team?
4-4-2 for simplicity sake
Mine:
GK: Cech (no questions about it, Reina comes second though)
RB: Neville (experience edges it, Sagna has great potential though, Finnan is just average)
CB: Ferdinand (Terry overrated)
CB: Carvalho (i would love to see Toure here but Carvalho nicks it)
LB: A.Cole (the best in the big 4, Cashley beats Evra and Clichy)
RM: Ronaldo (any questions?)
CM: Fabregas (what a talent)
CM: Gerrard (Essien comes a close second, Scholes is past it, Carrick and Hargreaves not really)
LM: Malouda (for a lack of a better choice, Giggs too old, Pool has no left flank, Gunners no wingers now)
ST: Drogba (the best Target man out that in the business)
ST: Rooney (just edges out Torres)
Conclusion:
Arsenal - 1 - surely their players aren’t the best XI now but watch them grow
Man Utd - 4 - champions for a reason
Chelsea - 5 - star quality still present but not a team anymore
Liverpool - 1 - Mascherano and Carragher deserves special mentions but the holy trinity of Voronin, Kuyt and Crouch is not even as good as Drogba alone.
Arsenal may not have the best 11 players now but they have a really good team and I hope the old rivalry with Utd can resume yet again.
Anyways guys, cheers for all the comments… make sure you bookmark this post so that if Arsenal don’t (a VERY unlikely chance, but you get what I mean :D) win the league you can slate me all you wish.
As for a best team out of the top four, the only replacements I’d make is Gerrard instead of Flamini, Cech instead of Almunia, Terry instead of Gallas and Drogba on the bench instead of Eduardo. I’d take Adebayor every single time over Drogba- first off, he’s six years younger and about 85% as good; second off he’s not a whinging, slutty c*nt
Hobtuse? you gotta be kindin me Ferdinand, Neville, Cech, A.Cole and Malouda?
This article is no were near biased most of it is fact biased is opinion dumbass. I really cant wait for the clash at anfield and United are back on form dont think that you will get a result there either.
Great article Jason!! You have earned my full respect. Liverpool_Fan watch when we woop your ASS at anfield and at the Emirates (The best stadium in the world.)
Come on, admit it, you put that title only to draw peple to read it. And it paid up.
cech
simmo or pique–vida–terry—risse
ronaldo–fabregas–hargo—wright-phillips(nani close tho)
tevez-rooney
out of the big 4s first team starting 11s , the best RB is neville, and i believe that pique and simpsons is better than neville, we need a holding mid and an attacking mid in the centre, fabregas has been the best cm so far this term, hargo well its not even the bias its just that i genuinely believe that he is the best holding mid in the prem. tevez-rooney is an un-parrelel partnership.
just wondering, do you think city can keep up their form and pipe chelsea out off 4th?, if city are in the top 4 still by my birthday(nov30th), i think they’ll finish 4th.
What do Arsenal have to do to get any credit? Before the season started everybody wrote us off. Now after winning 8 out of 9 games which would of been 9 out of 9 had it not been for Lehmann cocking up all people can say is “yeah who have ya played?”. What a load of bollocks! You can only beat what’s in front of you. Of course our next 2 Premiership games will be hard but it will just as hard for the opposition and I guarantee they won’t be looking forward to playing us either. If we get beat then so be it but if we happen to take 6 points then what will the excuses be then?? One thing I will add is lets hope the referee looks out for flying lunges by Dirk “Cantona” Kuyt next week at Anfield! Come on you Gunners
Paul your wrong there all Liverpool fans look forward to every match never dread it the last match i dreaded was the barcelona at the nou camp because i always thought they were unstoppable but i do not think Arsenal are like that and i know Man United fans are also looking forward to watch United at the emirates.
Oh Goofle, I was just being sarcastic, I am aware that Fabregas would have trouble making the reserve team of the season. No seriously I really was being sarcastic as I think u were with your team (not even a little? Really? Scholes?)
Oh and United, need I mention that your team has only THREE differences from mine? In other words we agree on about 77% of the team - the rest is based on preference and um… bias
Going back I am going to say that it will be another two-horse race. Liverpool is almost out of it and Chelsea will be lucky to finish ahead of Man City (damn that hurts!!)
Spot on Liverpool_Fan
You’ll never win anything with kids
Anywho…Arsenal have been great but you can’t keep playing like that for the whole season. It happened to United at the end of last season and Chelski in January. Arsenal need to strengthen in the transfer window because Adebayor and Toure are leaving for a month and if anything happens to Fab or RVP in that time there will be a crisis methinks.
I might get slaughtered for saying this but i think van persie and Adebayor aren’t world class. they score lots of goals because of the unbelievable arsenal midfield methinks
i mean seriously the amount of clear cut chances they miss in a season is unreal ive noticed this since the blackburn match!
there is never a league winner in october but there are always league lossers so far Bolton Derby and Spurs are out of the title race
Liam dont say that im sure u dont wanna jinx the title Arsenals way like does very words once did it for united
gogo arsenal !!!!!
even though I am a Man Utd fan, I wouldn’t say that this was the most biased article that I have ever read .. I have read worse on places like orkut .. good luck to your team .. your next two matches will be pivotal to your chances this season
Good shout Jason, I’m kinda tired of seeing red and black. Best of luck to a young arsenal team that is in many ways, reminiscent of the Arsenal of the unbeaten season. Your keepers are naff though, and you’ll want to give Gamst Pederson a look at left midfield, I feel that he would fit in perfectly into the Arsenal style.
Ideally, you’d have
————————Boruc
————-Toure————–Gallas
Sagna————————————–Clichy
————————Gilberto
Hleb——————–Cesc————-Gamst Pederson
————-Adebayor———–Eduardo
But you should look at a good centre back and centre forward
Adebayor wont be going anywhere in January. Togo failed to qualify for the ANC. He is staying put. Toure and Eboue will be gone though……….
We’ll only be missing Toure. Eboue was shockingly inept against Bolton.
I’m an Arsenal fan and I agree with some of the Liverpool supporters (I think) with their criticism of how many chances we miss. Arsenal should not have had one close game this season, no matter how difficult they were. In years past, we would have buried West Ham with the chances we had. But Adebayor missed them all. He did not even hit the target. If we do not win the league, that will be why.
heh, what a stupid article… and i am an arsenal fan…..
how can u say that arsenal will win the league, with only 1/3rd of the season complete… i wouldnt even write liverpool off, its still a long way to go… finally we dont have a one team race which should be fun come May…
Adebayor is a good striker, a very good target man but a really really lousy finisher… he needs to convert more of the chances he gets, given that fabregas gives him through balls on a golden plate…..
i’m gonna make all of you people laugh at my ridiculous comment by saying this: I believe it will be a five-horse title race. Man City are looking fantastic, Chelsea will pick themselves up (GO BLUES!!!), Arsenal (unfortunately) are looking amazing, Man U are always a threat, and Liverpool are kicking a** with Torres and whatnot. So while you laugh at Chelski and the Mancs, remember: you know deep down all five have what it takes. And P.S., Newcastle are looking pretty good too (loud laughing in background). And you can never write off Spurs, remember last season (people rolling on floor from laughter)?
Arsenal.. Win the league??? Ha.. ok Jason.
How about writing another post on Nov 3rd after your next two league games. I will look out for many differences between your two articles.
GT im not laughing! Man city are good enough to get 80+ points this season even chelsea can still get that so it could turn out as a 5 horse race!
My Prem XI would be:
Cech
Sagna Richard Toure Clichy
Ronaldo Makelele Cesc Nani
RVP Torres
I must admit, I’m a bit dissapointed that the article is not as biased as I hoped it would be
I side with GT. I think we might just be in for a 5-horse race. I think the fact that Chelsea ‘dropped-out’, complacency will become ManU’s enemy (after they’ve overtaken Arsenal). This will open the race up again.
I feel I should be one of those to eat their words. I also claimed that Spurs will tip Arsenal this year. I could not have been more wrong. Damn pity.
Arsenal will need to take points from those 2 matches if they are going to win the league. Good luck to them, those matches will be the real test.
Liam O’Kelly, Adebayor is from Togo and they didn’t qualify for the African Nations Cup so he won’t be going for a month.
true test will come if and when we loose a match. its easy to feel good and win the next game when you just won the last match but if we loose, then how will the youngsters pick them selves up to make sure they win the next. if we can win a match straight after loosing one then we have a great chance of winning the title.
let me ask you all a question “Are Arsenal the most entertaining team in England/Europe?” if not who is
manu wins manu wins!@
arsenal 3-0 up it worries me by they r back to goal scoring form by the end of this match they cud be wining 7-0?
Here is my team
Schmeichel
Corluka Rio Vidic Bale
Ronaldo Gerrard Fabregas Nani
Rob Van Persie Torres
I think my team is kind of unbiased. i think
united have struggled because of injuries and the adaptation time taken by new players but credit have to be given to arsenal for playing majestic football….with utd touching top gear in the recent matches this years title race will be an amazing contest to watch out for….unlike the chelshit era….where entertaining and free flowing football lost its lustre….any way …my prediction is utd edging past arsenal ….
wow i predicted 7:0 look at my last comment b4 this one im all proud of myself
I’m gonna just stand up & say it now. If we can come away with good results against Liverpool & Man Utd in the next 2 weeks we’re gonna be an unstoppable juggernaut.
I worry about the team missing RVP. I’ve said it before & i’ll say it again, we can’t win the Premiership without him, no matter how good the form of Adebayor/Bendtner/Walcott/Eduardo is none of them are substitutes for RVP’s style, class & creativity. He’s the kind of player that can turn things around for the team if they’re ever in a slump. He was just getting into the goal-scoring groove too :(.
We’ll probably go and lose the next match now that we’ve spanked Slavia, but Liverpool’s defensive partnership is going to have trouble dealing with our pace up front… :p
Spiral,
It will make things difficult, true
Hey Liverpool fan! You said before that you don’t worry about matches. Have you changed your mind about this sundays game??
Lots of critics started saying why only arsenal players are called termed as kids and not the Manu youngsters. the answer is simple . look at the cost of the Man U kids.
Rooney 30 mil
Nani + Anderson 30 Mil
Ronaldao 12 Mil
for arsenal Fabregas+Danilson+Bendtner+Tho cost only around 17 mil including 12 mil for theo because he is english.
you know what arsenal is bullshit jason who do they have
well……fabregas,fabianski,eboue,adebayor not much
liverpool torres,gerrard,carra,alonso,reina,riise,babel,kuyt and many more
i’m sorry if i’ve offended you or something but arsenal will not win it this year it between us and man.utd
hey one touch my dream team is
casillas
ramos terry riise
c.ronaldo gerrard essien kaka blaszczykowski(dont know if you’ve heard of him,hes polish and he is brilliant, check his videos on youtube)
torres mesii/villa

“Lots of critics started saying why only arsenal players are called termed as kids and not the Manu youngsters. the answer is simple . look at the cost of the Man U kids…”
I don’t see how this can justify that Arsenal have ‘youngsters’ and ManU not?
In fact, this only tells me that Arsenal’s ‘youngsters’ are cheap compared to ManU’s ‘youngsters’.
I don’t share in the profits of my club - the owner does - so, as long as he:
1. provides a good entertaining team for my ‘viewing’ pleasure
2. provides a team that can also challenge for titles
3. ensure that the club don’t get liquidated,
I don’t particularly care how much they cost!
