the team is underperforming by the standards of a potential premiership winning team. the major contributor thuis season for me has not just been the injuries to torres, gerrard and aquilani, but the injuries to johnson, carragher, skrtl, agger (again and again and again!), dossena, aurelio, benayoun, riera, babel. marry this to the world cup qualification worries for mascherano and insua(who badly needs a rest, but cannot be because of injuries) with argentina it is hardly surprising taht there has been no rythem or solidity to their play this year. dissapointing as it is you cannot hope to be at the top missing as many first team players as liverpool have done this year on a regular basis.

I still think there's more than enough time for Liverpool to get it together and finish in the Top 4.

When you consider that Liverpool were genuine contenders for the title last season and some of their performances were excellent, how did it get to where it is today in a few short months, with more or less the same personnel?

Did Liverpool way out punch their weight last season?

I agree with you though that as long as the Americans are there and until further investment comes in I can't see them building the strength of squad needed.
