Well written piece Neil, but I can't agree with the sentiment. As a Utd fan I would look forward to 2 successive 4-4 draws with all the enthusiasm of someone going over the trenches at the Somme!

I HATE conceding lots of goals and for me it shows Liverpool's inexperience in a title showdown. They did have an excellent 'purple patch' but suddenly tactics have gone out the window and they seem to think they can get over the line with helter skelter football and throwing caution to the win. They've lost sight of their own limitations and threw away 2 points against a very depleted Arsenal side who had little to play for.

Yes, it was a great spectacle for the neutral but great spectacles do not win titles.

As for Arshavin. For me the jury is still out on him. People seem to forget that he played only 3 games at Euro 2008, one poor game, one decent game and one outstanding game. It was that outstanding game that suddenly had him on everyones wish list. Yes, he played well for Zenit last season but at 27 you have to ask (if you rate him world class) where has been until last season? World class players seldom emerge that late.

For Arsenal this was his first truly dominant performance. He may go on to great things but it's a case of let's wait and see for me.

this was a stupid match strewn with errors. Except torres and yossi none turned up for liverpool. A defense consisting of Mikael Silvestre is prone to leaking goals. Liverpool have themselves to blame for this. Moreover much has been mede of Arsenals unbeaten run of 18 games . If u take a closer look it is damn clear that have many draws in games they ought to have won and are 6-8 points behind man united eventhough united have lost two games . Arsenal vs Liverpool was a good spectacle but footballing wise it was a match strewn with shoddy defensive errors . It never matched the drama of Man utd vs Villa two weeks before .
