@GT

I can't believe after reading this article that is what you would conclude. Either you didn't read the article carefully or you read the first few paragraphs and made a hasty conclusion. Even if the author were to make that assertion (WHICH HE DID NOT) there could be little to argue about situations such as Perugia abruptly ending Ahn Jung-hwan's contract after he scored against Italy in World Cup 2002...again a different discussion for a different time.

The author simply took a case study about a player who found it hard to adjust to life in a foreign country despite his footballing talents. It happens everywhere and not just Italy..it happens in every profession and walk of life. If clubs understood the psychological side to it then more could be done to ensure that an investment (such as 700 000 Euros) could properly earn a footballing yield if more attention was paid to foreign footballers. Outside of the training pitch these athletes have lives and imagine yourself in a foreign country with no body around because of language and cultural barriers. That's merely the point here. But if this is racism then we're not reading the same language.

many teams already do this. The hard thing is of course not having any1 to speak to, this is an issue everywhere. Thats why multilingual staff and players are so important.
Look at manU for instance, a very strong backbone of portoguese speaking people were bought in during querioz tenure as assistant. Now its becoming a bit more european focussed.
At liverpool mainly spanish were bought in at the start, same goes for arsenal and fabregas for instance said that part of the reason he settled in so easily was because of senderos. Many of the players bought in knew french as well.
Same goes for chelsea, a very french and portoguese dominated side with a scattering of english.

Clubs do think about this sort of stuff when buying players you know. Many of them also do provide english lessons for players, have a guide to show them places to go, to eat and all the other stuff.

I don't think this article is in anyway suggesting Italians are racist towards Norwegians at all.

It's main point is saying the psychological impact of moving clubs and living in a foreign country is a challenge and shouldn't be neglected.

Get off your high horse and re-read the article.

He is not saying Italians are racist, he is simply pointing out that foreign players would settle in much faster if they were given help in integrating with the community and coming to terms with the cultural and language differences.

Are you trying to say that Italians are racist towards Norwegians?

Please. That's utter bullshit. It's the simple fact that Norway and Italy are two immensely different culture; it's got nothing to do with Italian hospitality. We are a very friendly people.

So before you make gross generalisations and insult an entire nation, please do some research.
