I see some irony in all of this.
For those United fans who were so hell bent against the Glazers from taking over citing ethics, "good of the game" and the morality of one family taking over the club, I wonder if these same fans are the ones now staunchly defending Macheda's acquisition under a FIFA statute while throwing to the wind any arguments about morality.

My personal view is that this sport is a business. It's not even an issue of the sport becoming more and more a business, it is a business period. The bottom line is always going to win. That's the reality despite a lot of fans' nostalgia for the game to return to whatever state it was in the past.

BD condell, spot on!

It's just a reason for Lazio to complain because of their bad man management with Federico. It's Lazio's fault that he went and now their trying to blame United for the way they poached the kid.

It really is just another slagging match :\

Wrong Steve, it's about what's legal.
Make it about what's fair and most non Utd fans will say it's not fair while most Utd fans will say it is. It then just becomes another one of those slagging matches.

Half an hour on the pitch, as you say, and yet he's "had his share of luck". (??)

Raelin got it right.

I have watched this whole episode with passing interest. Too much hype over two goals and less than half an hour on a football pitch. and he has had his share of luck to be frank.

also, two stunning goals, no..one stunning goal. one rather opportune strike at best, but stunning, nah.

also, the debate is not as to whether it is legal, it is whether it is fair, two completely different arguments...not sure after reading this if you have made a distinction in the article.

some good research though, some of the fifa rules i was not totally up to date with and made good read.
