The big mystery at Portsmouth

Why did Harry buy David Nugent, and why did he then not use him like a mid-table club would use a 6m striker (that is, frequently)?

Surely they tried before buying, gave him the ball and checked if he could shoot and run with it. A medical is standard procedure, right? If he’s not good enough for Portsmouth, then why buy him in the firsts place? How did he dupe Harry into signing him then?

So what’s wrong? Did Nugent shag Harry’s mistress on the first day? Did he refuse to give Campbell a backrub? Does he smoke and is thus in David James’s bad books? Did he develop a rash that stops him from wearing shorts? Does he really like shopping so much that he misses training?

Why is Nugent at Portsmouth? And more importantly, why isn’t he playing?

Because he’s shit. He’s a lower league player not a premiership striker. Seen him play 6 or 7 times, once in a pre-season match against a non-league eastleigh, it was like watching a turd play football.

which begs the question – why was he bought? Didn’t Harry see him play?

According to recient reports Nugent has had an injury all season which has stopped him showing his potential.

However why he was bought in the first place? Well both Nugent and David Healy were touted as bright talents for the future and were knocking them in for fun in the Championship however neither has shown their potential in the Premier League. Is that because they need time to adjust which they are just not getting or is it because they are truly not up to Premier League standards?

Time will tell, however when he came on yesterday in the Cup Semi Final and he was almost his usual self, tripping up over blades of grass however he was making darting runs, getting behind the defense, just not scoring.

Does he have a Portsmouth future? Well his goals in the early rounds got us into a Cup Final so he could be kept for that kind of role or as a backup striker. However I see him being moved on to perhaps one of the teams coming up this season.

    PS

!!! POMPEY ARE IN THE CUP FINAL !!!
