The Best Transfers of Summer 2009
Who was the best signing of summer 2009? With price tags like 80m for Cristiano Ronaldo, 50-odd million for Kaka, 35m for Benzema and of course, 40m + Eto’o for Ibrahimovic, it becomes difficult to measure the effectiveness of a transfer just in terms of the team’s performances. Ronaldo does far more for Real Madrid than score goals, and buying Ibra gave Barcelona the bonus of getting rid of Eto’o.
In the end though, players are judged by their performances on the pitch – and our friends at IMScouting.com have come up with a formula to figure out the efficiency of all the signings of summer 2009.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Karim Benzema, Arjen Robben and Mario Gomez all feature in the top 20, but there’s no place for Kaka, and there are some unexpected names at the top of the list.
Take a look: IMScouting’s most effective summer 2009 signings.

Very flawed formula which essentially means nothing.
Benzema has largely been a disappointment at Real and where is Valencia of Utd?
And there is no place for defenders or non-scoring midfielders in there.
Just goes to show that you can’t apply maths in evaluating footballers!
January 1st, 2010 @ 17:19Thomas Vermaelen has been the best transfer of the year, no doubt there. There should be a price to performance ratio. Sure, Ronaldo has helped Real but has he helped them 80 million pounds worth?
January 1st, 2010 @ 21:42So they have Cagliari’s Nene, who only started scoring a few months into the season, but not Monaco’s Nene, who is the top scorer in Ligue 1??
January 2nd, 2010 @ 10:13The best transfer was Eljero Elia to HSV. This player can play easily by Real, Barca or by the Blues. No problme for him. Also he’s very young. Probably the best young talent
January 3rd, 2010 @ 19:15He will have a great carreer.
Indeed i give to CR09 due to the impressive performance and his immense contribution he has been giving to real madrid.
January 3rd, 2010 @ 19:18So where is Vermaelen?
January 4th, 2010 @ 15:02Barry?
