The Bayern Munich-Tottenham-Manchester United triangle, with Larsson the wildcard
The madness never stops.
Now Bayern Munich are rumoured to be interested in Dimitar Berbatov, with the Bundesliga club supposedly cutting in line ahead of Manchester United (to whom Tottenham are less than keen on selling their star forward).
I don’t believe it for a second, especially since Bayern have 3 very good strikers already in Klose, Toni and Podolski, but let’s suppose it happens. Tottenham get Pavlyuchenko, who’s in WHL to wrap things up, Bayern get a top striker, and United are left stranded.
But there’s Henrik Larsson in the mix too – with news coming out of Sweden that he might be up for a move back to England. He’s slower than last time around, but don’t let that stop you from dreaming, ok?
Larsson to United? Hardly the star power they’re looking for, so it could be that United, if they were to lose out on Berbatov, would pip for a Bayern striker instead (with Podolski the most likely to leave if things went south at Bayern).
Wouldn’t that be just grand? Spurs get Larsson and Pavlyuchenko, Bayern get Berbatov and United get Podolski (or Toni, if you’re pushing for it)? I imagine the players might be happy but each club will feel that they could have done better than what they got.
Except that it’s not going to happen. Bayern won’t get Berbatov and United are more than likely to get their man once Pavlyuchenko signs – I was thinking the opposite this morning (with regard to United getting their man) but today it seems like a deal just waiting to happen.
And if you thought United and Tottenham had it bad, spare a thought for the likes of Everton (Saha), Chelsea (who offered to sell Robinho shirts on their website but might not even get him this season), Liverpool (second-choice Reira), Arsenal (30m but no player) and Newcastle (no Milner and possibly Owen leaving next season).
And they want this to happen all year long? Fucking crazy….

Forget Larsson…
A Berbatov and Poldolski swap deal between Spurs and Bayern sounds much more like it..
August 29th, 2008 @ 19:37This will not happen, Comolli will meet with Zenit officals and Man utd officials on Friday. My source seen comolli shaking hands and smiling with Zenit officals meaning we have got arshavin. and will post that pic on his website tonight(address to follow)
August 29th, 2008 @ 19:38Spurs were after Podolski earlier in the summer, so it makes more sense that they would be after him then Larson. In fact, why are Man Utd and Larson even in the mix here. Im sure Klinsmann would have Berbatov at Bayern, and Podolski would be happy at Spurs because of regular first team football. And Spurs would be happy that Man utd didnt get their main target. Sounds good to me. Wish it would happen.
