Tevez and Alex Ferguson keep West Ham in the Premiership

There are two reasons West Ham are still in the Premiership.

One is Carlos Tevez – that monster of a striker who has led West Ham’s charge to safety after everyone else had given up on them. West Ham believed, and most importantly, Tevez gave them belief.

The second is Sir Alex Ferguson, whose team selection today was poor, his substitutions more so and a home defeat is no way for champions to go out, although winning the Premiership after 3 years and helping a friend will more than

Congratulations to West Ham for managing a remarkable comeback, and congratulations too to Wigan, who pulled off a real upset by beating Sheffield United at home – sending the team safest in the three-way relegation fight back to the Championship.

Expect Sheffield United to come after West Ham with guns blazing, but right now, it’s all about West Ham’s last day heroics – they kept pushing United back and fought really well.

Fantastic display by West Ham and Carlos Tevez – and opportunist goal.
West Ham had the luck no doubt but sometimes you make your own luck.
Tevez is going to be in big demand this summer – hope he stays in the Premiership.

Anybody thinks there is a conspiracy theory?? …..It surely will raise eyebrows if he heads to old trafford next season….

I wont agree, Westham were very lucky to win the game. Go and look at the game statistics. It was a lucky goal and a clear penalty turned down!

Moreover, we need to rest players for the FA Cup final. SheffUtd should have won at home. It is their mistake and not SAF’s. You are furious that we didn’t win at home. You are absolutely wrong.

    Who’s angry?

I’m disappointed that we lost the home game before the trophy presentation. Other than that, I’m happy for West Ham. Sheffield were my picks for staying up, but they bottled it on the last day and go down because of a 1-goal difference.

Their manager’s bitchin’, but you’d bitch too if 30m were snatched out of your hands on the last day.

Still, Sheff have no one but themselves to blame.

bad pick of squad? nah, i think ferguson picked appropriately. the team was strong enough to beat west ham (and probably would have on any other day).

did you not watch the game? i agree with samphraim, lady luck was kind to west ham (plus of course, a great strike by tevez).

oh ya, you have to give credit to the west ham defenders and goalkeeper, they fought like it was a matter of life and death, blocking everything – sometimes very desperately.

    yea. watched the game.

you can look at it both ways – west ham were lucky, but on the other hand united failed to put their chances away. It has happened a few times this season and it’s not just about luck, it’s about being in the right frame of mind and having the right players for the job.

West Ham were up to it, definitely, credit to them.

It just goes to show how a combination of factors affect a team. On paper I’d have had west ham down for sure – Man U away on the last day of the season.

Man Utd are in the cup final and rest a few players, the other players pull out of tackles for fear of injury before the big game and hey presto Tevez decides he wants to impress and plays a blinder.

    If I were Sheffield I’d be gutted…

I would be gutted if i were sheffield aswel. The whole west ham tevez saga is a bit suspect to say the least.

Them not getting deducted points has certaionly raised eyebrows. including mine.

I would just think if it was chelsea that signed tevez and played him when he shouldnt be, everyone would be going mental, you could imagine it.

A spokesman said they didnt deduct points from westham because of the relegation battle?! what kind if crap is that! so any other team in the prem would have got deducted points? the FA shouldnt be saying things like that.

I think this will drag on well into summer.

But all credit to west ham im not going to take anything away from them they did force there way to stay up and deserve every bit of credit, tevez is not way a relegation player, he should be at one of the top clubs in europe!
