Talks Ongoing – Arsenal Chasing £25m Benfica striker Rodrigo Moreno

Arsenal are still the race for Benfica striker Rodrigo Moreno and Arsene Wenger may move for him before the transfer deadline day.

The Gunners are one of the three clubs that are chasing the 22-year-old striker, who has scored five league goals this season thus far.

The Independent reported few days ago that Russian club Zenit St Petersburg are leading the chase for Rodrigo, having a £25m bid accepted, but the player is not keen to swap Portugal for Russia. However, a move to Valencia and Arsenal could to be tempting for the youngster to refuse.

Arsenal are certainly not willing to match that high price put by Zenit but are in talks with Benfica, according to the reports from O Jogo.

The report says Arsenal have contacted Benfica to know under which conditions, read as the price of the player, they’d let him go and they now leave the final decision in the hands of Arsene Wenger. The player personally prefers a switch to the Premier League.

The Gunners are heavily linked with a move for Julian Draxler of Schalke this winter but whether they can pull off that deal remains to be seen. In that case, young Rodrigo could be a cheaper alternative.

  1. please mr wenger we highly ineed of striker to end our title drought and silence our haterz do it now, and escape the stupid drama like that happened against us prior in the suarez and higuin.

  2. I checked Arsenal’s fixture for this coming month of February, I feel its a tough fixture which needs a good planning. My fear is the striking force, If Arsenal can add a prolific striker up front they can do themselves good looking at the tough fixture forthcoming.

  3. I strongly suggest that Arsene Wenger should sign Benfica striker Rodrigo Moreno as he is a top class player and will benefit Arsenal FC as a whole.

He has speed and good dribbling skill who can tear down any defenses and that will provide more space for our talented midfielders to score , beside that Rodrigo is only 21 years old with good physic which is suitable to our Premier League.
