Steven Gerrard
Steven Gerrard is arguably Liverpool’s most famous player of his generation and on talent alone is probably one of the most explosive and determined midfielders you can find in the world today.
He’s been misused for England and recently at Liverpool – his main talents in my view are running the show in midfield alongside a skillful passer like Pirlo who is able to float up and and down the pitch filling the gaps as well as creating opportunities for the rest of the team.
At Liverpool, he has Alonso to do that for him. In England, there’s only Carrick and he’s almost never picked to play alongside Gerrard.
Liverpool captain, Scouser for life and will probably never leave Liverpool, although he might have to if he wants to win the Premiership (then again, who knows?).
Transfer Rumours (3rd June 2010): Real Madrid Make Steven Gerrard Top Target
Another day, another fresh wave of transfer rumours sweeps across cyberspace, and there’s some biggies this morning! It looks like Liverpool may have to brace themselves for a huge double blow over the coming days, with both two of the biggest names at the club set to walk out if sources are to be believed….
Old England’s last chance for World Cup glory?
Last Chance for the England Chieftains? At one point Terry, Lampard, Gerrard and now Ferdinand have all held the captaincy yet all four are likely playing their last World Cup ever. Will this incite a mid-life-crisis-esque meltdown or provide swan song cup winning motivation? It struck me as I was glancing through this England team…
England 2010 World Cup Squad: The Final Cut
Although it is yet to be officially announced by the Football Association (at the time of publication), it would appear that the seven awkward “it’s not you, it’s me…” phone calls have been made and – after several hours of water-torture style press leakage – we can at last piece together the final draft of…
A:3K Football Champion
On 17th July, 2010 at the O2 Arena, A:3K will bring six of the world’s greatest footballers to compete and be crowned the first A:3K Football Champion. A:3K have gathered over £300 million (transfer value) of global football talent to compete in a serie of gladiatorial games of skill. They have confirmed that Cesc Fabregas,…
England – Why being a one man team could cost us dear
The Barclay’s Premier League season came to its finale yesterday and the nation held its breath yet again. This was not because of the extremely tense circumstances in which the league was decided, but because Wayne Rooney had felt a slight twinge in his groin and had to be substituted during Manchester United’s four-nil drubbing…
Steven Gerrard’s assist on Sunday shows he’s a true Liverpool fan
For those Liverpool fans upset at this weekend’s loss to Chelsea, I say ‘What are you upset about?’. The loss that Liverpool have just experienced, has ironically just ensured that their long term rivals Manchester United will fail to win a 19th Premier League title this season, overtaking Liverpool’s 18. By losing against Chelsea, Liverpool…
Liverpool Nightmare Ends In Title Dilemma
As a football fan, as opposed to a Man Utd fan, I have to confess to feeling some sympathy for the Liverpool faithful right now. As loyal, knowledgeable, good humoured and expectant a group of fans as you are likely to find, how many more kicks in the gut can they be expected to endure…
West Ham players should be ashamed of themselves
Spineless, gutless, embarrassing, unprofessional. Four words I could use to describe the appalling performance by West Ham against Liverpool at Anfield last night. As a life long supporter of the club and a current season ticket holder I watched us capitulate from the first whistle to the worst Liverpool team in decades. Obviously in the…
England win, but with food for thought
The final whistle, on this cold Wembley night, was greeted with smiles and cheers from England supporters. A win and three second half goals could at least leave a warm, glowing feeling for the journey home. But as the feeling returns to those supporters fingers, so might memories of the first hour of England’s performance…
50 Highest Paid Footballers
Futebol Finance compiled a list footballers with the top 50 paychecks from their football clubs. You might feel that some of the players on the list are over-paid and maybe some under-paid. Nonetheless, here is the list: Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid, £11.3million) Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Barcelona, £10.4million) Lionel Messi (Barcelona, £9.1million) Samuel Eto’o (Internazionale, £9.1million) Kaka…
