Steven Gerrard

Steven Gerrard is arguably Liverpool’s most famous player of his generation and on talent alone is probably one of the most explosive and determined midfielders you can find in the world today.

He’s been misused for England and recently at Liverpool – his main talents in my view are running the show in midfield alongside a skillful passer like Pirlo who is able to float up and and down the pitch filling the gaps as well as creating opportunities for the rest of the team.

At Liverpool, he has Alonso to do that for him. In England, there’s only Carrick and he’s almost never picked to play alongside Gerrard.

Liverpool captain, Scouser for life and will probably never leave Liverpool, although he might have to if he wants to win the Premiership (then again, who knows?).

Rooney, Gerrard are afraid of fans

Rooney, Gerrard are afraid of fans

A:3K was bringing a one of a kind event for the football fans involving Cristiano Ronaldo, Didier Drogba, David Villa, Cesc Fabregas and of course England’s own Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney. But recently, A:3K announced that Rooney and Gerrard have pulled out of the event after their failure to perform in South Africa. The…

Movie star footballers

Movie star footballers

A life of a footballers is not much inferior than that of a rockstar. From awfully huge wages to their sexual activities getting closer to hypersexuality (a.k.a. nymphomania). And just like rockstars, footballers too have shown the desire to become movie stars. But unfortunately, rockstars usually don’t have problem with fluent speech unless they have…

Premier League football doesn’t cut it at this level

The past few days has seen players, managers, coaches, journalists, reporters and almost anybody with a television set give their views on why England produced such a disappointing World Cup campaign. This has normally brought negative views regarding previously worshipped manager Fabio Capello and complaints over over-paid lacklustre performances from England’s supposed star players. I…

World Cup News: England Lost, But At Least Gabriel Heinze Got Clocked!

Top of the morning and welcome to the daily World Cup column on Soccerlens. You may have noticed that England did a ‘lose’ yesterday when they really should have done a ‘win’, and it seems that the manner in which they whimpered out of the World Cup has angered an awful lot of people –…

‘Arrogant’ England Fob Off The World’s Media

‘Arrogant’ England Fob Off The World’s Media

The world’s media were left with their jaws on the floor yesterday, when England’s press briefing (before their systematic dismantling at the hands of Germany) lasted barely five minutes – and featured a meagre amount of questions fielded only from hand-picked British journalists. More than 250 journalists and around 30 television crews from around the…

Transfer Rumours: Real Madrid Want Steven Gerrard, But Only ‘On The Cheap’

Transfer Rumours: Real Madrid Want Steven Gerrard, But Only ‘On The Cheap’

Cash-strapped, poverty-stricken Real Madrid (yes, the very same side that spent over £200 million pounds on transfer fees last summer) have apparently baulked at the exorbitant price tag Liverpool have slapped on Steven Gerrard‘s head and requested that they be allowed to pinch the influential midfielder on the cheap – the cheeky sods! Here’s the…

England’s World Cup – Pointing the finger

On the 12th June 2010 England started their World Cup campaign, their team littered with some of the best players that world football has to offer. The likes of Ashley Cole, Stephen Gerrard and Wayne Rooney are but three names within the star-studded squad that look to both excite the Rainbow nation and bring the…

Transfer Rumours: Real Madrid To Go Big With Double Raid For Rooney And Gerrard?

Transfer Rumours: Real Madrid To Go Big With Double Raid For Rooney And Gerrard?

Sensational (but hardly original) stuff in the British red-tops this morning, with the ‘news’ that Spanish giants Real Madrid are preparing to break the bank once again this summer with a massive double raid on the Premier League for a pair of England’s finest. I’ll only believe it when I see both Wayne Rooney and…

Transfer Rumours: Real Madrid Enter The Race For Cesc Fabregas?

Transfer Rumours: Real Madrid Enter The Race For Cesc Fabregas?

Monday Monday, can’t trust that day. The new week has brought with it a flurry of fresh transfer rumours, some perfectly feasible, some a little dubious and some completely and utterly nonsensical! Brilliant! It seems that the relentless speculation surrounding the future of Cesc Fabregas is showing no sign of dying down whilst the Spaniard…

Steven Gerrard Lucozade ad

The energy and sports drink Lucozade sent two guys to sneak up on Liverpool and England midfielder Steven Gerrard with a video camera to capture his secret of the powerful long range shots he pulls off so often. Well, since Lucozade sent the people to spy on Gerrard, guess what his secret is! Yep!
