Rafael Benitez
A master of the tactical game and of winning pressure one-off games, Rafael Benitez has the pedigree to be a great manager. Made his name with Valencia before moving to England to manage Liverpool and has led them to 2 Champions League finals in 3 years. That’s more than Arsene Wenger, Jose Mourinho and SAF, so that’s saying a lot.
Valencia won La Liga under him, but Liverpool have been off the pace in the league so far as Rafa in my opinion still has to get his tactics in line with the demands of the Premiership.
Liverpool – A club very much in the past
Liverpool are, as we all know, the most successful team in English football history. 18 league titles, 5 European Cups, 7 FA Cups and 7 League Cups. They are only behind the giant clubs of Real Madrid and AC Milan in the European trophy count. They’ve had some world class players down through the years….
Rafa, Liverpool and some truth
Rafa Benitez and Liverpool. What a story, eh? Man gives club best years in last two decades. Man loves club. Fans love the man. And then, poof. In one bedraggled season where everything went wrong even when it was going right, the fans turned on him, former players stuck their boots in and the press,…
Liverpool Target Roy Hodgson Insists He’s ‘Happy At Fulham’
It would appear that all and sundry are claiming Fulham manager Roy Hodgson to be the prospective candidate that the Liverpool board would prefer to see succeed Rafa Benitez at Anfield. However, the man himself has refused to be drawn on the mounting speculation linking him a move that would see him swapping from the…

Will Rafa Benitez Be The Man To Follow Jose Mourinho At Inter Milan?
From the outside looking in, it would appear that the planets are aligning for Rafa Benitez. If you subscribe to the theory of Occam’s Razor – that the most obvious explanation is usually correct – then it would seem that the Liverpool boss will be stepping into Jose Mourinho’s recently-vacated hand-stitched loafers sooner rather than…
Liverpool ask Rafa to leave
It’s finally happened. For several seasons Rafa had the backing of Liverpool fans and seemed untouchable, especially given the unpopularity of the American owners. But a dismal perfomance in the league and Europe has seen his support erode drastically, and according to the Times the board have now offered him a severance deal that would…

Liverpool have confirmed that they have held the first in what they hope to be a series of talks with manager Rafa Benitez over his future at the club. Benitez (who is understood to have already cancelled two prior meetings) met with chairman Martin Broughton with the hope of discussing his available transfer budget for…
Liverpool Nightmare Ends In Title Dilemma
As a football fan, as opposed to a Man Utd fan, I have to confess to feeling some sympathy for the Liverpool faithful right now. As loyal, knowledgeable, good humoured and expectant a group of fans as you are likely to find, how many more kicks in the gut can they be expected to endure…
West Ham players should be ashamed of themselves
Spineless, gutless, embarrassing, unprofessional. Four words I could use to describe the appalling performance by West Ham against Liverpool at Anfield last night. As a life long supporter of the club and a current season ticket holder I watched us capitulate from the first whistle to the worst Liverpool team in decades. Obviously in the…
