Michael Carrick

Michael Carrick is a former West Ham and Tottenham player, now anchoring Manchester United’s midfield and vying for a spot in the England line-up along with Manchester United teammate Owen Hargreaves. An excellent passer of the ball, Carrick’s strengths lie in his ability to pick out the right man out wide or up front, his interceptions and the general way he influences the game even when he doesn’t have the ball.

Can also be a playmaker instead of a defensive midfielder – and from what I saw in 2006/2007, he’s got a good shot on him as well.

England – Why being a one man team could cost us dear

England – Why being a one man team could cost us dear

The Barclay’s Premier League season came to its finale yesterday and the nation held its breath yet again. This was not because of the extremely tense circumstances in which the league was decided, but because Wayne Rooney had felt a slight twinge in his groin and had to be substituted during Manchester United’s four-nil drubbing…

England win, but with food for thought

England win, but with food for thought

The final whistle, on this cold Wembley night, was greeted with smiles and cheers from England supporters. A win and three second half goals could at least leave a warm, glowing feeling for the journey home. But as the feeling returns to those supporters fingers, so might memories of the first hour of England’s performance…

Barca rule Europe, and have done it their way

Barca rule Europe, and have done it their way

For nine minutes, I was smug and self-satisfied, as well as disappointed. My pre-match predictions were being played out in front of my eyes; the men in all-white were on top, and the Catalans were struggling to adapt to the intensity of their play. Victor Valdes had taken just thirty seconds to nervously prod a…
