Chelsea 08/10 Home Kit out now

The Chelsea 08/10 home kit is now available for pre-order.

The launch date for the the 08/10 Chelsea home kit is 8th May but you know how these things go out of stock, so if you’re the sort who can’t wait we suggest pre-ordering today.

Here’s the shirt itself:

Personally I like the gold trim and the collar is quite stylish as well (more imposing than the Liverpool one here). Overall, good kit (allowing for the adidas stripes on the shoulders which are a turnoff but nothing you can do about that).

Liverpool 08/10 Home Kit + Free Torres Shirt

The Liverpool 2008/2010 Home Shirt is now available for pre-order. The shirt will be launched on 22nd May and as with all things Liverpool they are bound to be a sell-out so get your order in as quickly as possible to ensure that you get your hands on the new 08/10 Liverpool home kit first.

And as an added incentive, with every pre-order of the new Liverpool home kit you will also get a free Torres shirt for being smart enough to order ahead of time.

Here’s the shirt itself:

I’m not a fan of the red and white pattern inside the shirt on the back but other than that it’s simple, traditional and the collar isn’t half-bad either.

So here you go - pre-order Liverpool’s next season’s home kit and book your El Nino tee as well.

Nomis Football Boots - Ask Your Feet

It’s one of those things that becomes obvious with hindsight - that brands don’t necessarily make football shoes good for your feet and that you need to extensively test football boots before committing yourself to them in a proper game to minimise any injury risk.

The new Umbro SX Flare - A boot to Newcastle’s rescue, and England’s Renaissance?

SX Valor

Following on from the launch of the SX Flare boot, Umbro have now released an ‘England‘ edition of the SX Flare and SX Valor. If you watch the television closely tonight, you’ll see John Terry wearing the Valor and Michael Owen wearing the Flare, as England take on France in the Stade de France in Paris.

Will ‘the perfect boot for today’s fast paced game’ keep France out at one end and score the goals for England at the other? We’ll have to wait and see.

I have not approached John Terry for a quote about the boots as he would no doubt claim to be busy!

Umbro

Football boot manufacturers Umbro have launched a brand new boot. The SX Flare is described by the manufacturers as “The perfect boot for today’s fast paced game”.

Top stars who are wearing the boot include Newcastle and England striker Michael Owen, Everton and Australia star Tim Cahill and Rangers and Scotland captain Barry Ferguson.

Umbro tell us that the boot has been designed using innovative Michelin technology. I thought about writing that the players will have to tread carefully and avoid getting too tyred, but decided against it!

Nike’s Mercurial Vapor IV - Who Is The Fastest?

Nike’s Mercurial Vapor IV shoes are supposed to be one of the lightest pairs of football boots ever made - but do they really help players run faster?

Last month, Cristiano Ronaldo recorded his first Premier League hat-trick against Newcastle, scoring all three goals in the span of 40 minutes in Manchester United’s six-goal second half.

Nearly three weeks later, he scored two goals in four minutes against Portsmouth, the second coming on a free kick that Sir Alex Ferguson said was the best free kick he’d ever seen in the Premier League.

Not that he needed anything to make him even better, but it may well be the shoes.

England 08/10 Away Kit Launch - Rio, Owen and Bentley talk about Capello and the future

As you might know, the England 08/10 Away Kit was launched this week (more details here).

And most of you (England fans anyway) would have heard Rio Ferdinand’s soundbite about the new England environment being like ‘going from primary to secondary school’.

Well, here you go - non-exclusive (because it’s bound to pop up somewhere else) footage from the England kit launch, where you see Rio Ferdinand, Michael Owen, Shaun Wright-Phillips and David Bentley (he of famous initials) talk about the new kit, the new manager, the game against Switzerland and what not.

So you all are up to date with everything, Umbro has delayed the release of the 2008-10 England Away Kit until March 12th. However, our friends over at Subside Sports have unveiled a beautiful Fabio Capello shirt that will be given away free when you pre-order the new England away kit, or you can buy the shirt itself.

African Cup of Nations - Ghana 2008 - Team Kits

As we approach the opening ceremony of the African Cup of Nations for 2008, I thought I would give a brief synopsis on the kits the countries will be wearing. Much like I did for the Euro 2008 as well, if you want to go to the African Cup of Nations page just click here; otherwise here you go.

Euro 2008 Kits

For many teams across Europe, the second biggest tournament to qualify and win would be the Euro. Behind the World Cup, of course. So it is a big time for all teams across the continent to unveil kits that will be worn for this event only, or for a couple years following. Though some of the kits have not changed since the 2006 World Cup, there are some that have, so I have created a collection of the kits here.

However if you want a brief synopsis of the teams kits, here you go:

The Times’ Top 50 Football Kits of All Time

From the pink jersey donned by Sicilian hardmen to the strip that hid blood on George Best’s ankles, The Times has made a selection of the Top 50 Football Kits in history.

As usual, this ranking (just like any other type of ranking involving football) has to be taken with a grain of salt: some fans will feel outraged that their favorite jersey has been forgotten, others may not agree on the selection, etc. but it’s always interesting to see what other people think.

Just like the article’s authors state, if we have forgotten anyone’s favourite, let us know.

A Short History of the Manchester United Kit

To first review the history of the Man U kits, one must look back. All the way back to 1892 where the Red Devils were known as Newton Heath. The first kit ever to be worn by the classic English squad was a yellow and green, but at the turn of the century when the name was changed to Manchester United, they began a period of experimentation for the next 30 years. Blue and white, red and white, and all assortments of stripes of these colors were possible options until 1928 when Manchester switched permanently to the red, white, and black colors that have made the Red Devil kits so popular.

Stuttgart 07/08 Home Kit

Tagged: Football Kits

Last seasons Bundesliga winners Stuttgart have new home kits for their UEFA Champions League and Bundesliga campaigns.

The home kit is pretty much the same as all Puma templated-kits this season, but the collar looks great being white and blending with the white kit. The under-arm splash design is an awesome little addition and looks very nice, well done for Puma.

Dutch side Feyenoord have their new 07/08 home strip out and goes with the original red and white colours, while Fortis and Kappa continue to sponsor the club. Football Slippers - no, seriously!

Tagged: Football Kits

Football Slippers!?!?!? Ahmed’s surely gone nuts…

I know what you’re thinking, and I sympathise - when Subside Sports emailed me with the link to their newest line of football accessories, my first thought was to tell SS to shove the slippers up their collective arses.

But they’ve usually given me good advice, and so I thought about it, and decided to give the whole ‘football slippers’ thing a closer look.
