Carling Cup
The league cup (or Carling Cup as the sponsors would have it) is often derided by top sides as a competition for the reserve sides, but it still important for a host of reasons, not least of which is the fact that it is a source of revenue and exposure for most clubs outside the top tier of the Premiership, and perhaps their only real chance of silverware. You can also watch the Carling Cup live.

February 2008 Review: When Tottenham beat Chelsea and Manchester United burst Arsenal’s bubble
February marked the beginning of several storylines for 2008 as well as the beginning of the end of for a few teams and managers. In purely footballing terms though, Egypt stole the headlines with a memorable triumph at the 2008 African Cup of Nations on the back of a string of impressive performances throughout the…
January 2008 Review: When Keegan led Newcastle and Tottenham beat Arsenal

Burnley’s Jay Rodriguez: A future Premier League Striker?
The game was heading for extra time, neither side able to break the deadlock, but on 87 minutes Burnley’s 19 year old striker collected a through ball that found him facing Fulham’s Swiss goalkeeper Pascal Zuberbuhler. The Arsenal Love-in, Tottenham and CL, Chelsea’s problems, Lucy Pinder and more
Today’s Soccerlens Daily is brought to you by the lovely Lucy Pinder:
Chelsea have lost 5 successive penalty shootouts
Chelsea’s penalty shootout record is less than perfect (a bit like their Champions League record) – they have lost the last pen shootouts and under 3 different managers, so we can probably pin this one on the players and not Mourinho (3) Grant (1) or Scolari (1). Chelsea’s last 5 penalty shootouts:
Why Chelsea should sue Burnley, FA and the London Police
Last night’s Carling Cup matches proved a number of things: Rafael Benitez will give up anything, even momentum earned through wins in the league, to keep his match-winners rested. He has more faith in a few players than he does in the rest of his squad. Harry Redknapp is for real. I doubted him, but…
Arsenal Disrespecting The Cup? Who Cares!
The League Cup saved Manchester United in a way, surprisingly, after we’d dismissively referred to it as the Mickey Mouse Cup or Worthless Cup for the years preceding that win a few years back. Truth be told, it will be always be the fourth priority, behind the League title, Champions League and FA Cup, for…
