I’m not a fan of Sven and very surprised he took this job. Seems like he’s lost his way (reputation) big time in the last few years.

True. Sven has always done things his way and perhaps that didn’t go down so well in Mexico. I think players like him. He doesn’t strike me as someone who rants and raves. I wish him all the best.

@ Wes- Apologies, the Lee Hughes deal I found out once I had submitted the article. You are right, he will be a more than useful signing for them- personality deficiencies notwithstanding.

@ Paul- The thing with the Mexico job was that I think Eriksson didn’t anticipate the animosity that would be shown towards him as a “foreign” coach. His use, exploitation, of Nationalisation rules didn’t help, and Mexico’s players let him down too it has to be said. I personally thought he did ok at City despite a second half to the season which saw them tail off, but he signed pretty shrewdly and certainly toughened them up (Boro game aside)

You’ve got to hand it to Sven, he always lands on his feet. Sounds like he’s losing it a bit though, he didn’t exactly perform miracles in Mexico. anyway, it’s great to see him back and best of luck to him and Notts County.

I’m surprised you failed to mention the most high profile recruit – Lee ‘murderer’ Hughes. Although clearly a scumbug, he has an excellent goalscoring record and could easily score 30 goals in L2. A very shrewd signing, on the pitch anyway.

Seems a strange one, but a good challenge all the same. Imagine the feeling of helping a club from the bottom to the top…..
