Sunderland add experience with Andy Cole and Sammy Kuffour

Their old and considered by some to be ‘over the hill’ but for Roy Keane and Sunderland these two players will be critical in bringing their wealth of experience to the training ground and in crunch situations, on the pitch for Sunderland.

No surprise to see Roy Keane move for Cole (although he’s unlikely to reunite Yorke and Cole up front for Sunderland), and I’m glad that he’s brought in Kuffour because Sunderland are a bit light at the back if Nosworthy or McShane get injured and Kuffour will provide good backup.

Sunderland are still short of a few players though, most notably in central midfield. There are rumours that Roy Keane could be after United’s Darren Gibson with a view to sign him on loan or to take on Darren Fletcher and give him a leading role in midfield. I think at this point Keane’s best options are in getting players in on loan, so Gibson looks the more likely prospect.

Who do you think Sunderland will sign next?
