Steven Gerrard - Liverpool FCLiverpool superstar Steven Gerrard has dropped a massive hint that he could leave Anfield after the end of the season if the Reds decide not to hand him a new deal.

The 34-year-old recently retired from international football after England’s poor run during the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The midfielder end his time with the Three Lions to focus on his club career.

Gerrard’s contract with the Merseyside club runs down at the end of the season and is yet to be handed a new deal. The midfielder believes he still has a few more years ahead of him and he will not retire at the end of the season.

The Reds skipper has dropped a hint that his future could lie elsewhere if Liverpool fail to hand him a new contract.

“I won’t be retiring this summer,” he says. “I will play beyond this season. We will have to wait and see if that’s at Liverpool or somewhere else. That’s Liverpool’s decision,” Gerrard told in an exclusive interview to The Telegraph.

The former England international came up through the ranks of Liverpool’s youth setup and since making it to the first team, he has spent his entire club career at Anfield. Should he leave the Reds next summer, it will be a massive loss for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Liverpool manager had earlier admitted that the club’s keen on keeping Gerrard at Anfiled.

“It is something we are looking at as a club, and with Steven and how he feels. He is still in a real good physical condition. He’s 34, he trains every day, he never needs a day’s rest. He wants to work,” Rodgers said.
