Spurs finally sign Pavlyuchenko, Berbatov to United or Bayern?
Tottenham have finally signed Roman Pavlyuchenko from Spartak Moscow for a fee rumoured to be £12m. The player was photographed arriving at White Hart Lane yesterday and after passing a medical, he is now formally a Tottenham player as announced on the Spurs official website.
Question #1: Will he succeed in England? If he does, and if the rest of Tottenham starts clicking as well, Ramos has a very good side on paper that is capable of pushing for Europe again.
Question #2: Will Berbatov leave now, and will he go to Bayern or Manchester United?

Well if all is true , but I won’t believe until it happens, then SAF MUST get Berbatov before midnight Monday. If he doesn’t then I can’t see many goals being scored by our main front men over this season. Come on United we need a striker who can score goals.
August 30th, 2008 @ 19:33did you just make up that bayern thing
August 30th, 2008 @ 19:39Good to have a signing confirmed. Arshavin was no big shakes last night vs ManU so better to save our money and give him a miss (Can we not sign Danny instead!?).
It’s worrying that the team is looking so lop-sided. Ramos and Comolli have had 10 months to sort this mess out and already we are bottom with nil-point. We desperately need another good defender; a Michael Carrick replacement AND a striker with a 20 goals-a-year record.
But look on the bright side there is still 52 hrs to go and if we beat Chelsea we will be back on track to challenge for a top 4 place!
August 30th, 2008 @ 19:45Bring back JOL please Ramos has not got a clue. can you see us getting anywhere near 5th place no me neather that was only 2 years ago why get rid of good platers like Chimbonda and Malbronk and extend zokora’s contract and what happened to Garlie.still getting paid from us no doubt.
August 30th, 2008 @ 20:28hi i really want spurs to break into the top 4 this year we can do it,
August 30th, 2008 @ 20:34BUT!!! we do need another stiker and yes we have the russian (thank god we dont have to rely on darren bent any more lol)
And i do agree with (juande at a time) that we need another defender.
A player that is confinced that spurs we reach the top 4 at the end of the season and he would do everything in his power to get us there if hes a defender or a striker/centre attack?!!!
does anybody know if pav wil be able to play against chelsea 2morrow?
August 30th, 2008 @ 20:35If we are to compete with the top 4, then we must start with a win tomorrow vs chelscum, with Arse on 6pts, Pool & Manure on 4pts & Chelscum on 6 we need to close the gap. Pity Pav’s not playing tomorrow, we really need bent to start putting in those goals. Berbs is outpriced for Bayern so I think he’s on his way to Manure.
August 30th, 2008 @ 20:44Sorry to say but Tottenham will not be in top 4 this year. Maybe not even in top 6. The Big Four will remain the same with Chelsea or Man Utd winning the title, Liverpool and Arsenal battling for 3 and 4 respectively. Villa will make 5th most likely and I see Everton and, hate to say, but Man City, battling 5 and 6. Blackburn showed they miss Bentley today losing 4-1 to West Ham who is a mid table club at best, so I don’t see anything better than 7 or 8 from them. Tottenham can battle for 6 if Pav proves he has what it takes in EPL. Those are my predictions. I’ll even go out on a limb and say Sunderland have a good chance at battling for Europe play next year. West Brom going down along with Hull. Survival between Bolton, Fulham and Stoke (tho they seem to be the better promoted club at the moment)
August 30th, 2008 @ 20:58If we can’t sign a good holding midfielder then why not play dawson and woodgate in the centre and play king in front of them. Ledley had a couple of games there for england and did very well.
August 30th, 2008 @ 21:07hey, do u know if the transfer window closes at midnight on sunday evening or monday evening? hope berbs goes he is acting like a real c*nt
August 30th, 2008 @ 21:17transfer window closes at monday night.
not sure about the Bayern rumours, I think it’s just smoke to put pressure on United to raise their offer.
August 30th, 2008 @ 21:21I thought Pavlyuchenko replaces Keane and Berbatov leaving would depend on the signing of Arshavin. As the financial situation with that move is the same as with the Berbatov to United bids (some 5 million pounds to little has been bid) and there are only 2 days left in the transfer window, I would say no.
August 30th, 2008 @ 21:23So we have Tottenham with a p** off player on the bench, because they want 30 million pound for a player that’s almost 28 (?) and Zenit with the same (although their asking price is probably a bit more realistic).
Question is: Who will score the goals for united now?
thanks a lot i want berbatov to go especially now that woodgate has confirmed all that stuff, and i really hope the signing of veloso and corluka goes through
coys!
August 30th, 2008 @ 21:23i don’t understand how some spurs supporters want to get shot of ramos’ already. granted we have not had the best of starts and there are positions that need filling but at least give the guy a full season. If we are in the bottom half of the league then we can start saying things about him. people who are also saying bent is rubbish are talking ball too. before he came to spurs he had a 1 in 2 average and that was still playing in the premiership. he is someone that relies on the service and that simply has not been provided in the first couple of games. no one can say that the first team on paper are not an exceptional bunch of players, it is just a case of finding the correct balance. bentley should be played on the right from the start with his supply of crosses. lennon needs to be an impact player off the bench. bale should be on the left wing with benoit behind him. once a defensive midfielder is added or one of the players such as o’hara or zokora is given the role full time, i think we will be a lot stronger at the back. i myself would like to see o’hara sit just infront of the defence. he is good on the ball, very good at passing and can tackle and clear up. that’s all you need in a defensive midfielder. also i still don’t think berbatov is going so im unsure where this other striker is going to come from. anyway lets just hope something special happens tomorrow against chelsea.
August 30th, 2008 @ 21:37I think that if chavski get Ribena, that madrid will come for berba. Villa won’t leave and has just signed a new deal so either Barca or Madrid. manure will get Zero for 22m!!
August 30th, 2008 @ 23:25for 22m I would expect a whole lot better than that overrated piece of shite, that’s for sure
August 30th, 2008 @ 23:56i reckon pav will get 15-20 a season, good buy for the price. berby isn’t worth 2o mil, neva mind 30. he’s 2 old. the question that saf must ask himself is berby a top striker. personally i think he’s not. here’s who we should have signed:
1:samuel eto’o(speed of torres, finishing of van nistelrooy-erm, lethel)
2: batian schweinsteiger(pace, extreme determination, superb ability)
Does anyone argue???????????
August 31st, 2008 @ 00:5220legend…I will argue, but first will agree with 30 mil being way over priced for Berba. Ramos would like to see him stay for what reason I have no clue. If he wants to leave then you can’t really expect him to perform top quality for you. I believe Berba is a terrific striker and one that Man Utd need. Maybe not the the best we could get, but sufficient for the needs of a striker. Eto’o should’ve been the top of the list. Agree on that. Then Berba.
Schweinsteiger is a great striker, but I wouldn’t include him as top in my book. Berba would come before him to fit into the Man UTd team. You can call out names all day long, but when you look at if they would fit with the team and style of play some just don’t cut it.
if we couldv’e signed anyone here’s what I would’ve picked, but then again. I don’t have the pressure of managing one of the greatest teams in the world.
1. Eto’o (the name speaks for itself)
August 31st, 2008 @ 01:422. Berbatov (already established in EPL as top striker)
3. Luca Toni (adds height and incredible in air)
4. Huntelaar (maybe)
Maybe if you don’t get berba, then you will struggle up top. MR R could do the same to you guys, if he wants too what’s rednose gonna do, kick something at him? No you will pay because berba’s got the class to take-out two centre backs with one touch, he made your defenders look mank last two games!! Rednose is alas not too stupid and realised you need him roonie looks spent, tevez and campbell…. your move?
August 31st, 2008 @ 02:38it doesn’t matter because their biggest problem is defence and they haven’t picked up any defenders
August 31st, 2008 @ 04:49THE WHOLE WINDOW IS JUST A WINDUP OF FRUSTRATION FOR CLUBS TO PRETEND THEY ARE JAMES BOND FROM OUT OF CASINO ROYAL GAMBLING AT THE TABLE THEY LOVE THE WHOLE THING THESE OWNERS AND DIRECTORS , WHEN THE TRUE MATTER OF FOOTBALL IS THE LAST THING ON THEIR MINDS ITS THE THRILL OF GAMBLING WITH BIG MONEY AND THEN PULLING OUT WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH AND THE TOUGH GETS THE FECKING SHITS .
August 31st, 2008 @ 08:33I think that it was a big mistake to buy Pavlyuchenko. The mentality of Russian players is quite different. They play at full strength 5-10 league games a season only. I am afraid it’s be impossible for Pavlyuchenko to score more than 5-7 goals for Spurs in the PL this season.
August 31st, 2008 @ 10:01ahmed……are we offering campbell for berb?,,,,,is this news true…..comment on this
August 31st, 2008 @ 11:08no one can suggest what will work and wont but Berbatov can become a legend if he replicates the form of the last two seasons. Age isn’t a problem as he doesn’t heavily rely on his pace. Techincally he is arguably the best in the premier league
August 31st, 2008 @ 11:39Re post 17: “1:samuel eto’o(speed of torres, finishing of van nistelrooy-erm, lethel)”
Re Post 18: “1. Eto’o (the name speaks for itself)”
While Eto’s scoring record is clinical, don’t forget that he missed several months of the 2006/7 season with a serious knee injury and a further 13 league games last season having aggravated the same knee. Knee injyries are notoriously risky and there’s a question mark over the heights Eto will reach in the future.
September 1st, 2008 @ 05:44Also don’t forget the unrest he caused when he refused to come off the bench as a substitute and the dressing room problems he caused.
I wouldn’t touch him at this stage.
