Cheers Daniel, glad you enjoyed it. You're spot on about the weather too, it was a very valid point made by Daryl during the podcast.

Thanks RR, I am not currently on Twitter, to be honest I am not entirely sure how to use it!

Daniel, I agree the EUROPEAN weather helped the players but you might want to reassess your analysis that this was down to the Alps mate, Basel for example is 200 metres up, the Alps times that by 100 and you are getting there. Switzerland and Austria have hot summers, I remember Holland v Russia was hot as balls.....

nice to see Soccerlens with a Podcast, I have been out of the loop over the last months, will be sure to add it to footballfilter once the new release is out, of course if there are no objections.....nice one as always Ahmed.

If there's any consolation for South Africa, South Korea did not win a single World Cup match prior to 2002 and there was great trepidation amongst Koreans that we would be the first ever host nation eliminated after the group stages (considering we had Portugal, Poland and the US in our group). It's amazing how one year in football (even 6 months) can change the fortunes of a team.

As for the weather, thinking back to Euro 2008 and the mountain climate (albeit with some rain), I can't help but think that somewhat cooler conditions allow for teams to open up as opposed to being bogged down by suppressive heat and humidity. We saw higher scoring games and matches where teams really took the game to each other because the weather in the Alps of Austria and Switzerland was more conducive to attacking football. That may be the one factor that brings us some good football in South Africa in their "winter month."

Enjoyed the discussion.

Mike, care to expand on that?

I'm quite happy to take constructive criticism if you didn't like the show.

Cheers.
