For the clubs, watching the game in the pub does them no good (does it?). Watching it online where you pay them a direct fee probably makes more sense, as long as it doesn't clash with existing TV rights. On a side-note, the FA made the England U21 game against Macedonia (today) available for free (live streaming) on the FA website.
