latest word is that Madrid will sell if Chelsea pay 40m Euros. My guess is that the agent’s making that bit up, but you never know, we could still see Robinho @ Stamford Bridge this season.

I understand what you’re trying to say, but remember, Chelsea FC is a business. The reason why they reportedly offered “little money” was because REAL MADRID unsettled their own player by so flamboyantly pursuing Ronaldo.

Real Madrid was offering world record breaking fee while Chelsea were oferring â‚¬21-25 million Euros for a player very similair to Arjen Robben, who they sold for â‚¬36mill last season.

I understand why Real Madrid rejected the offer. It was a joke!

Darren Bent, Robbie Kean, Nani and Anderson would all have went for a bigger fee then Robinho.

It is correct that Blatter never said that players are actually slaves. However, I think that the context of what he said is important. It was an interview with Sky Sports where he was commenting about the future of Cristiano Ronaldo:

If the player wants to play somewhere else, then a solution should be found because if he stays in a club where he does not feel comfortable to play then it’s not good for the player and for the club.

I’m always in favour of protecting the player and if the player, he wants to leave, let him leave.

I think in football there’s too much modern slavery in transferring players or buying players here and there, and putting them somewhere.

So it’s hardly unfair that most people read this as Blatter believing that clubs treat players ‘like slaves’ and that Cristiano Ronaldo is one such case.

In other words, he’s a clown and completely out of touch. I’m not so certain of his alleged ‘racism’ and anti-English bias, as I’ve not followed what he has to say with any kind of regularity., but I would not be surprised if it were mostly a case of ‘foot-in-mouth’ syndrome.

As for the Robinho thing. Everybody needs to listen to what Blatter actually said. He never said that players are slaves. He said that there is too much modern slavery in the game, by which he meant that players are treated like slaves (being sold and bought).

It looks that Real Madrid have supporters in height places and that’s why Spanish clubs make always complain about RM way of wining.
If you see the way they played in the Spanish Super Cup you may think how a team like this win the title. But with supporters like Blatter and co. it is possible

Robinho has never stated he wants a move to Chelsea in public. We dont even know if he used his agent to gain a bigger contract at Real Madrid. Under the skin they have different stories =o.
Ronaldo we all suspect ‘whimped’ out of a push for Real Madrid when meeting with Fergie for an infamous battle, much like David Beckham did. Except Beckham had a boot thrown at him =P. But who knows? Ronaldo was almost certain to join Los Blancos but a word with Fergie and “I want to stay at the club forever” attitude. I wonder what Fergie said.

blatter comes across to me as anti english (racist?) what about kick racism out of football? he should be fair and unbiased and held accountable when statements don’t tally. is this too much to ask from a football politician?
