So Mr. Blatter - are Real Madrid slavers too?
Our 2nd-favourite Blatter picture
Sepp Blatter was happy to call Ronaldo a ‘modern-day slave’ when asked about Manchester United’s refusal to let the player follow his ‘dream’ to play for Real Madrid.
Now that Real have done the same for Robinho and ‘killed’ his ‘dream’ to move to Chelsea (to Ronaldo’s credit he took it like a man and best of all his agent kept out of it - not so with Robinho’s agent, who’s been doing the talking on Robinho’s behalf), does Sepp Blatter, an honorary Real Madrid member, recipient of the club’s gold and diamond award, one who calls Real Madrid ‘more than just a club’ (hat tip to Tim Stannard), now think that Robinho is a modern-day slave?

Who the hell is the writer of this Article……do he posses any knowledge of soccer transfers….??
1. In wht way this transfer is same as that of CR….CR openly said in Media that he wants a move to Real madrid but Robinho never came out in Press…it was his agent who was making all statements…give me a single link where Robinho himself said that he wants to leave Real Madrid…..sch statements are usual from players agent whn player is seeking a contract improvement……
2. Real madrid was ready to pay whtever Man utd wud hv asked but in Robinho’s case the chelsea’s bid was not even near to 48-50 million euros, a price at which Real Madrid is ready to sell Robinho….No club will sell a player if they dnt get wht they are asking for a player……
@Ahmed Bilal
get some knowledge of Transfers , then make sch stupid reamrks………
No, he won’t think Real are modern day slavers. Mainly because he’s a fat, hypocritical cock who doesn’t have a brain in his head, and can’t see the light for having his head stuffed right up Real Madrids collective arse. Sad that he’s the most powerful man in football. Would be laughable if it wasn’t so tragic.
Jp - Suggest that maybe you should get some knowledge of what you are talking about too. Show me one quote from Ronaldo that says he wanted to leave this summer? There isn’t one, he’s said all along that he wants to play in Madrid at some point, but the only people who said it would be this summer is Madrid. And actually Robinho said just last week that it was his ‘dream’ to play for big Phil. In case you are unaware, big Phil is the Chelsea manager. And another point ‘Real madrid was ready to pay whtever Man utd wud hv asked’ Erm, total bollocks. They stated that they wouldn’t pay over £60 million for anyone, United wanted close to £100 million. Get some knowledge of football yourself before having a pop at others.
Poster number one, you’re talking rubbish;
“2. Real madrid was ready to pay whtever Man utd wud hv asked”
Wrong, Real Madrid stated more than once that they weren’t going to break the transfer record for Ronaldo who, when you add the fact that he’s 23 and his marketability, is worth alot more than £56mil.
Absolutely - by the same Blatter rationale that made Manchester United slavers in the Cristiano Ronaldo case, the same applies to Real Madrid.
Of course, that rationale is not only wrong but also extremely offensive to real slaves (more few and far between these days) as well as those who are taken advantage of by their ‘employers’ in low-paid, poor condition jobs.
You should not feel the least thread of sympathy for either Ronaldo or Robinho - not just because they are so well remunerated for their talent, but also because there is a strong suspicion that both transfer sagas have been initiated by the players (or their agents) to try to wring out more from the clubs in question.
All of which does not make Sepp Blatter any less of a clown.
considering no one in the world is as stupid as him,
is it safe to assume that poster #1 is actually Sepp Blatter?
Thanks for the backup guys.
@1 - this is similar for the reasons I said it’s similar - Ronaldo wanted to leave but united stopped him. Robinho wanted to leave but Madrid stopped him. The difference, as I stated, was that Ronaldo took responsibility for the whole thing while Robinho played it through his agent (so the player takes less heat, nicely played I must say).
And I’ve been covering the Ronaldo story all summer. You’ll have to trust me on that topic
^^ haha very good point.
the cases are equivalent but Blatter’s systemic anti-british bias won’t consider them so.
at least, that’s how it seems to me. Blatter is an unpleasant scar on a world game that surely doesn’t need such foolish politicians.
blatter comes across to me as anti english (racist?) what about kick racism out of football? he should be fair and unbiased and held accountable when statements don’t tally. is this too much to ask from a football politician?
Robinho has never stated he wants a move to Chelsea in public. We dont even know if he used his agent to gain a bigger contract at Real Madrid. Under the skin they have different stories =o.
Ronaldo we all suspect ‘whimped’ out of a push for Real Madrid when meeting with Fergie for an infamous battle, much like David Beckham did. Except Beckham had a boot thrown at him =P. But who knows? Ronaldo was almost certain to join Los Blancos but a word with Fergie and “I want to stay at the club forever” attitude. I wonder what Fergie said.
It looks that Real Madrid have supporters in height places and that’s why Spanish clubs make always complain about RM way of wining.
If you see the way they played in the Spanish Super Cup you may think how a team like this win the title. But with supporters like Blatter and co. it is possible
You wonder what Fergie said? I wasn’t there, but it must have been something like this:

As for the Robinho thing. Everybody needs to listen to what Blatter actually said. He never said that players are slaves. He said that there is too much modern slavery in the game, by which he meant that players are treated like slaves (being sold and bought).
It is correct that Blatter never said that players are actually slaves. However, I think that the context of what he said is important. It was an interview with Sky Sports where he was commenting about the future of Cristiano Ronaldo:
So it’s hardly unfair that most people read this as Blatter believing that clubs treat players ‘like slaves’ and that Cristiano Ronaldo is one such case.
In other words, he’s a clown and completely out of touch. I’m not so certain of his alleged ‘racism’ and anti-English bias, as I’ve not followed what he has to say with any kind of regularity., but I would not be surprised if it were mostly a case of ‘foot-in-mouth’ syndrome.
Real Madrid was offering world record breaking fee while Chelsea were oferring €21-25 million Euros for a player very similair to Arjen Robben, who they sold for €36mill last season.
I understand why Real Madrid rejected the offer. It was a joke!
Darren Bent, Robbie Kean, Nani and Anderson would all have went for a bigger fee then Robinho.
BEST ARTICLE EVER< man it hits the spot. im a 100 percent real madrid fan but this article is so true. great artice bilal
@Joe
I understand what you’re trying to say, but remember, Chelsea FC is a business. The reason why they reportedly offered “little money” was because REAL MADRID unsettled their own player by so flamboyantly pursuing Ronaldo.
latest word is that Madrid will sell if Chelsea pay 40m Euros. My guess is that the agent’s making that bit up, but you never know, we could still see Robinho @ Stamford Bridge this season.
Considering Blatter did NOT call Man Utd slavers, surely this article is redundant nonsense?
