Site update - reasons behind irregular posting / lack of posts
This is not about football, it’s about why posting on Soccerlens has been irregular in the last 3-4 weeks. If you’re here only for the news, please see the rest of the site. On the other hand, if you’re a regular reader and take an unhealthy interest in Soccerlens (i.e. reading it more than once a week), then this is written for you. Please say hi in the comments 
Hello people,
For the last month or so posting on Soccerlens has been irregular. Part of it was due to an over-extended break - I was travelling around the country for the last two weeks of December - and part of it was due to me being addicted to Football Manager 2007 and not having the time to work or sleep - let alone eat or blog.
However, it’s transfer season, and you just can’t walk away from the madness (is it me, or do the rumours get more and more ridiculous every day?). You see a hundred different rumours every day, and sources you would ordinarily trust (like BBC and Guardian) are running those rumours, deliberately spiking the headlines and making people believe that they’re actually true. It’s annoying because you have to be very careful and sift through the rumours and dig up on the stories instead of believing them at face value.
But that’s just me ranting…
Coming back to Soccerlens, I wish you guys a successful new year and hopefully as the 1-year anniversary for Soccerlens rolls up (April 19th, mark your calenders :P), you’ll see us growing up and turning into something really special.

I like this site, you know I’ve been posting here occasionally for over 8 months. But sincerely I think you need to decide whether you want this site to become what it says it is, or another of a group of Man Utd fan/opinion sites.

I read Soccerlens more than once a day and I don’t even like Man U - is that bad?
sachman - try haestad - free transfer at the start of the game because he’s not signed a contract with IK Start, so if you make him a good offer you can sign him on for free and he’ll transfer in the jan window.
Also try denilson, should come cheaply at the beginning (I got Aimar because the team got relegated but you might not be that lucky). Wolff Eikrem (under-19 player at United) is a fantastic future prospect, so is Nuri Sahin at Dortmund (but he’ll cost you a lot).

AVRV - Glad to have you around mate. The thing is - I’m a United fan and that won’t change. I’m only able to write about a limited amount of stuff (England, Arsenal, Pool, Spurs, Chelsea, Newcastle, United, and rarely some other teams) and even then I have to pick and choose because of a lack of time. So I stick to the topics I know most about and feel most strongly about - and more often than not they’re United-centric.
What I’d like to see is people participating, signing up and writing their own opinions. It doesn’t have to be A-grade journalism (you think those jokers at the Guardian are overly smart? no offense to any Guardian writers though :P), but if you’re passionate about a topic and can string together two thoughts, you’re a good candidate for a writer.
At the end of the day, Soccerlens will only become what I say it is and can be if other people participate.
And of course, that starts with you. Why don’t you sign up and start writing? A post a week (or whenever you feel like ranting) will be great for a start.
My policy is - I don’t write until I read something I have a strong opinion on. Usually I come across 5-10 news items that I could write about - I publish 3-4 of them because of a lack of time.
You can get by with 1 per day at the start, or 1 per week. Whatever rocks your boat.
Anyway, will address this again in the future, because it’s a key concern and I share it with you.

oh, and as for footy manager…if you get sahin when he’s about 17 from dortmund, he’s quite cheap for the player he becomes…i personally went for fernando gago instead because he has so much more quality on the ball…he become absolutely immense by the time he’s 22 with the right training.
