lets scrap the january window for premier sales and only let loan and buisness with lower league clubs take place?stop managers spending their way out of poor decisions and panic buys. that way we can see who the real wheelers and dealers are.a little more looking at their buys than throwing the clubs money around willy nilly and saying how good am i.

In principle the idea is solid - transfer windows end before football season starts so we don't deal with the uncertainty players deal with in August. Give a winter break and shape the mid-season transfer window around that. It's an overall structural change instead of fixing English football, but it's definitely a good idea.

Whether it can be done is another story.

Sir Cecil has it right...just not practical. KH also a good idea, forget the damn thing altogether.

As for: "Now, let's suppose the transfer window had closed one day prior to the season opener. Abu Dhabi would have likely swept in sooner after Shinawatra's tax troubles broke in early August (he was clearly ready to sell from the start of the scandal if not before), thus giving the Arab consortium more time to buy players and pick a new manager to truly make a top four run."

Em, they knew that the transfer window was closing on Monday and left it too late. How do you conclude this wouldn't have happened if the transfer window was ...etc etc.??

Manchester City have smashed the British transfer fee paid for Robinho yet what have they actually brought? They've got a player at a stupid price, a player that in his hearts of hearts never wanted to join them and overall I'm not bitter but he's not even good. I watch constant highlights of Real Madrid's games and the goals that he gets recognized with are mere tap ins after a good save from a Van Nistelrooy shot, header. Speed check, Class check, Power of shot check, Finishing ability well below par. If he had no attributes he'd not even look good at Championship level sorry City you've brought a dud.

In my opinion, the transfer window should be abolished. All it has done is to inflate transfer fees as clubs panic in the last couple of days of the window. Go back to the old days!

Doesn't look like KK's left... well, at least not sacked anyways. The club has been quite mum about a lot of things since Ashley took over. There were some signs that there was disagreement amongst the staff about how many players and how much should be spent. I'm just glad the window's closed. I hate this time of year more than any other. It's particularly bad as a Newcastle supporter.

Different countries and leagues have different start dates. If we set the closing of the window to the day before our league begins, what benefit is that to any other league in europe? You think they should close and open shop simply for the convenience of the Premier League? There has to be a compromise that suits the majority.
