New England Revolution 2008 Kits

New England Revolution 2008 home and away kits, after the jump.

New England Revolution 2008 Home Kit
With a name like “Revolution”, the New England kit should be patriotic. However, on the home shirt, primarily blue, the red color on the front and back of the sleeves does not really belong. The club crest, on the left chest, should be patriotic enough for fans, as should the “REVOLUTION” name on the shirt. The grayish accents on the bottom of the shirt would look just fine if the red parts were blue, like the rest of the shirt. Overall, this shirt is too busy for me.

New England Revolution 2008 Away Kit
The away shirt is better, but only just. The same accents are on this shirt, but instead it’s dark blue on the sleeves and red on the sides. Again, this is just a way to get all three colors of the American flag on a shirt, but if the old US National Team kits are anything to go by, sometimes it’s best to not have all three of our colors on a shirt because they just don’t go well together. However, the flag-imitating club crest looks just fine.

the team colors kinda leave you in a pickle, though… what would you leave out?
if one were to make a break from tradition here, i’d personally start off with only changing the away, and use a mostly-red color scheme for it.
that, and get a sponsor logo. $60-$70 adidas jersey notwithstanding, i still feel like i’m looking at a rec league shirt. i actually feel the revs across the chest makes it harder to diversify with jersey design.
