It was a close game that ended up being decided by a nerve-wracking penalty shootout. The game had everything – domination from both sides, quality goals, heart-stopping misses, the farcical ganging up on the ref, the tragedy of missing crucial penalties and the sheer euphoria of winning the biggest club title of them all.

Manchester United are now 3-time European Champions, and 10-time Premier League winners. If there was ever a manager who lived up to his promises, it is Sir Alex Ferguson with his promise to knock Liverpool off their perch.
