Update: Scroll down to see City’s third shirt and pre-order information.

On 4th June, 2009 Umbro and Manchester City announced a ten-year brand partnership. City broke off their deal with Le Coq Sportif and revealed their new 2009/2010 kits with the announcement. The new City kits were completely revealed on their official website.

This is not the first time Umbro will be manufacturing kits for City. Some 75 years ago, Umbro supplied kits for City when they won the 1934 FA Cup final. Today, the company and the club are trying to revive those memories and pay tribute to the 1934 win by wearing the old kits with the modern touch. Just like the images suggested, these kits are one of the simplest and one of the best out of all the kits revealed so far this summer… After all, Umbro is a subsidiary of Nike.

Images and descriptions after the jump…

Home
The home kit is a combination of City’s past and technology, the work on the kit has been done in quite detail while keeping the tradition in mind. The club’s crest has also been remastered to enhance the identity of the club. The home kits is available for pre-order from their official website for now.

Third
The third kit is a good example of crafting an old school kit into the modern design of today. The shirt features a black and red sash across a white base and the team sponsor is moved to under the crest to avoid compromising the visual identity of the sash. The sponsor, Etihad, Umbro and Manchester City FC have worked closely together to bring forth this design. The third kit will be on general sale from October.

Awesome designs, I know these are only partial picutres, and I will be getting the Home shirt as soon as it’s released.
Chelsea’s and Everton’s home shirts are horrible. But all four of these look brilliant!

Very pleasantly surprised, I have to admit that when I heard umbro would be making our kits I instantly worried. But it is nice to see they are using their retro logo, not the modern chavvier one. I am looking forward to the third kit the most, the diagonal stripes are great.

Yep Tevez will look good in the new kit on the bench. Love the away strip. Fuck united, you dirty red poo pushing bum shovelling sausage jockeys. You’re gay, and you know you are. COME ON CITEH!!!!!

  21. After looking at a pic of a collar and a badge you expect us to part with £45

The kits are definitely an improvement on anything we’ve had for years. It’s a shame they didn’t revert to the old badge. It would have looked perfect on the home kit. Very Colin Bell.

Ironic how you united have introduced a Rugby League shirt for next season considering the only way they’re going to score goals after losing Greasy Ron and Tevez is by picking the ball up and running with it.

  23. I’m a United Fan but I really like the look of these, Umbro seem to have done as good a job as they did with England.

The material looks a bit odd though, anybody worn anything like this before? Does you sweat like a bitch?

And all the dickhead United fans on this board, grow up, I’m a stretford end season ticket holder and I’ve got respect for City, I’d rather have successful teams in Manchester than London or Liverpool.

  28. August 29, 2009billy Dean

I Think these new shirts are really good.
What are the three stars for though?
Is it for the two titles you have won or the three divisions you have see sawed between in your glorious history?.
“Hey mam here,s the dustbin men !”

  29. September 25, 2009football kits

I don´t really like it, it lacks of beauty at all, don´t know, such a plain shirt.
