I thought it would be a fun idea to see which teams competing in Euro 2008 were the most popular - one easy way to detemine that is to look at how many shirts they’ve sold.

Here’s a look at the Top 5 Euro 08 teams in terms of merchandise moved:

1. 08-09 Italy Home Shirt

They may have lost their opening game but the World Champions still have a good chance of qualifying out of the Group of Death seeing the torrid affair Romania and France dished up the other night.

2. 07-09 Spain Home Shirt:

Somehow Spain always fail to justify their ‘potential’ - and this time around they are again being billed as the most talented squad to grace the Euros. If Villa and Torres can keep banging in the goals, it will take a giant performance from their opponents to stop them from reaching the final.

3. 07-09 Germany Home Shirt:

Germany may have lost to Croatia yesterday but their support is still massive and they will be expected to qualify for the quarters at least.

4. 08-09 Holland Home Shirt:

The Dutch contingent are similar to their Spanish counterparts - and with their win over France, expect Holland shirts sales to rocket up the table.

5. 08-09 Portugal Home Shirt:

At this point in time, favourites to proceed to the final from their half - especially now that Germany have stumbled.
